I kinda wanted to post this because it was kinda funny
But Thor aka Piratesoftware, twitch streamer who has been riding a huge popularity boom thanks to him taking advantage of YT shorts among other things, had a bit of a strange over-reaction to Ross Scott's "stop killing games" pettition, https://www.stopkillinggames.com/ an initiative that seeks to petition the EU govt to draft legislation in order to help provide methods in order to keep games alive and not unplayable, Louis Rossman, a popular tech youtuber and proponent of similar issues like Right to Repair, has put out a video directly calling out Thor, since he refused to have a dialouge with Ross, allegedly actively deleted a VoD comment from Ross, and outright called him "Disgusting" because of his attempt to use EU law to force devs to make games playable offline



Currently there are waves of PirateSoftware fanboys slapfighting and other people expressing disappointment that a creator that allegedly fights for consumer rights and talks about them, would outright insult a proposal that would in theory, be pro consumer if done well, he has a couple of legitimate criticisms but they are peppered with a bizzare form of manchild aggression towards the movement as a whole

So the multiplayer for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is coming out on August 16th. However it's not coming out on the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Edition because that only had the campaign. What is happening is that there's a mod called H2M for Modern Warfare 1 Remastered (which did have multiplayer) that lets you play as if it was MW2.
Here's what the mod will include:

• Create-a-Class system from MW2 with all those weapons, attachments, perks, equipment, and some fan favorites from CoD 4
• MW2 Killstreak system
• MW1 Maps
• MW2 Maps
• All DLC maps
• New Maps inspired by MW2's campaign (such as the White House and the Gulag)
• Same progression system (level up to rank 70 to prestige) but after Prestige 10, you can keep leveling up to level 1000. There's also the golden/mastery camos from CoD4 and some special animated camos

As of right now, CoD MWR is on a 50% sale that ends in ~30 hours

Visions of Mana released literally today. To glowing reviews and much fan praise. Currently sitting at Very Positive on Steam. Square spent a good amount of marketing money on sponsoring streamers, fleshies and vtubers alike, to play the game. And the studio gets shut down.

However, while many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended. Therefore, at this time, we have decided to take the game offline beginning September 6, 2024, and explore options, including those that will better reach our players.


While we determine the best path ahead, Concord sales will cease immediately and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased the game for PS5 or PC. If you purchased the game for PlayStation 5 from the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, a refund will be issued back to your original payment method.


Customers who purchased from other digital storefronts will also be refunded. More information about refunds from Steam and Epic can be found below:


Steam Store – Steam Store will refund players who bought the game over the coming days. Steam will send confirmation of the refund once it has been processed.


Epic Games Store – Epic Games Store will refund players who bought the game over the coming days and will contact each customer directly to confirm that the refund has been processed.

Because of how homogeneous and brand-friendly most of that upper bracket need to be, you have boring designs coupled with multimillion photorrealistic projects that culminate into nothing - you don't need 4K textures for clothing, you need better code. Because of that, resources are mostly diverted into graphical fidelity and marketing, and that ramps up the cost of making games, it is so fucking high if your project leave the scope of a, let's say, Hades or Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. and even they are huge gambles compared to the vast majority of other good projects that survived by word-of-mouth.

With a crash, most grifters/"investor angels" would lose a fuckton money and stop pushing for that kind of thing. It would suck for a lot of devs employed by the huge publishers, but going back to a more focused, niche community would do wonders for gaming and reduce to a more healthy environment and most importantly, make studios tune it down to make low-cost good games rather than betting it all in 5+ year cycle projects in the hundred millions scope to give us the most generic experience possible because they need to appeal to the normies to sell those 10 million units projected.
Everytime a cycle is done, layoffs happens in the thousands, this is just unsustainable.

Amazing fucking game that Ubisoft decided to kill on release:

EGS/Uplay exclusivity for a long time
Zero marketing
Delusional sales projection
Should be 30 bucks not 40

This game only got traction because of word-of-mouth, but in the current state of the industry it couldn't survive with just that. Ubi managers decided to let this piece of joy die because their name was already muddy and they did nothing to change that, even with a great fucking game in their sea of slop.
