and if any of them can opt out of anything then why is it that the few times someone has not appeared on a concert was due to health issues
Ame didn't participate in the Hololive NYE concert just because she didnt feel like it
As kiara said, she turned it down.
Haachama was supposed to not appear on Fes because of her hospitalisation, but she was there anyways as a surprise guest, because shes the strongest Idol
And when some girls cant make it to a concert, it was usually the Birthday/Anniversary 3D of some other talent
Those guests are volunteers. We dont know who opted out of these appearances because only those who say Yes are ever announced. WW2 Plane with holes survivor bias something something; our base data is just flawed

Is it really so hard to believe that people who join a half Idol company might not want to turn down their chance to stand on maybe the biggest stage of their lives (Fes)?
Even if their Idol power is low, just for the sake of the unique experience?
Too many girls who willingly participate in the concerts, and thats somehow a bad thing??

Yeah, she also didn't feel like working for Hololive some time later. Really good choice

but that does prove that even within Hololive, talents are free to invest as much time into their career as they choose

You managed to find one example of someone who did not participate for non health related reason. And this example quit the company entirely. This does not fit into "you can totally just skip events if you want to, no problem there". If there was a consistent amount of at least a couple people each year, and they kept working at the company I would agree. Providing an example of someone who clearly shouldn't be there because she was in a fucking hospital at the time only dismantles it further. But I guess she wasn't pressured by something to attend it, she just likes working

Most indies don't need a manager because THERE'S FUCKING NOTHING TO MANAGE. You don't need a manager to tell you to stream - which is pretty much the sum total of what most of these indies do anyway and the extent of their merch is a fucking off-the-line Kusa plush and a GamerSupps sponsorship.

When you're at the point where you're doing so much that your precious waking time has to be proactively juggled between voice/dancing lessons, product/merch consults with designers, voice recording for songs/voice packs, event planning and proactive scheduling with collab partners and studio - on top of your routine streaming time, having a manager isn't a bad thing, not to mention having a second set of eyes to serve as quality assurance.

I agree. There is no reason to ever disagree with what an entertainer says at face value. Their reputations, connections, personal friendships, managerial relationships, sponsorship deals, contracts, and NDA's have been proven time and again to have no impact on their public statements whatsoever. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool, and only needs to look at the sterling reputation Hollywood celebrities have for honesty and public disclosure to be proven wrong in their baseless assumptions. This is the same kind of logic that malignant, conspiracy-brained slanderers and communists use to attack politicians for impossible things like 'insider trading' and manufactured corruption scandals. Your trust in the system is what allows it to run properly, efficiently and for your benefit.
Anyone who actually watches Kiara knows that she says everying she can say about behind the scenes stuff within reason. Her NDA/company polices have no impact on her personal opinion of how the company is operating, and she says only what she can say without getting in trouble. If she thinks they are being idiots, she will say as much. There is a reason she has 4 years worth of clips of her saying shit about the company that cause people to doompost. Most, if not all, of the information she provided in the membership stream really isn't that far off of things that have been said before by her or other talents.

I'd imagine that most EN managers look at them and go 'well if they can do it, why not everyone else?'
When they first started, it was like that, but EN management shifted away from that after it got shuffled mid-2022 to early 2023. If there is any pressure from the talents to perform a certain way within hololive, it comes from themselves or by virtue of being in the environment. Everyone in the company has different work ethics that are pretty obvious if you watch them long enough.

Obviously, there is the unspoken feeling of having to act a certain way that is true of literally any company, regardless of size. However, even JP talents are starting to realize they really should be taking breaks and be more selective about their work, as is their perogative to.

Of course, with graduation, the IP becomes effectively dead. Even with the affiliate program shit, Cover loses a large revenue stream, since the talent basically picks and chooses what they will actually do with the company, meaning new merch and shit for the IP may never happen. That is why it is in the best interest of the company to not pressure the talents with overwork. Hell, most of the managers practically beg the workaholics to take a break.

Subaru and Mio both had members-only streams today. They talked in-depth about their own experiences and their thoughts on everything. Mio especially talked about a ton that I was surprised she went into. She even thought there was a chance the archive could go down. It was nice of them to be honest, get their feelings out and clarify some things. But the main point was that they're both fine. They've definitely had issues with management and it was much worse years ago, but they're both happy and healthy where they are now and want to keep going. The thing is that everyone has their own individual wants, their own environment and their own experiences with management.

What they said mostly lines up with these parts of Kiara's talk:
And I understand, because, everybody- the girls that are leaving, they give such a vague, broad reason, and it just sounds like, yeah, management- it doesn't give a good conclusion, right? But, first of all, even if they wanted to be more detailed, I generally think they can't. So they have to be kind of vague. But that doesn't mean that they are really all leaving for the same reasons. Management, like disagreements with management, is extremely broad, it's an extremely broad thing to say. And from my experience, everybody has their own issues behind the scenes. Really, everybody does. It's very individual. Everybody has their own individual, unique problems and cases, and things that they're fighting for behind the scenes.

it's hard for me to put this into the right words I guess- but I'm just trying to say that, that it's not one thing that you can blame, and that we can ask management to stop doing!

Everybody is individual, everybody has their own issues and reasons, and I think mostly, in most cases, it all comes down to things building up, stacking up, over not just half a year, but like, years.

They don't have to participate in every project. And they don't have to do a 3D concert like my recent one, you know, the YouTube ones. That's a lot of work, but they don't have to do that. Nobody is forced to do that. They can turn down sponsorships and they could turn down- pretty sure they could even turn down participation in Fes, if they wanted to. Stuff like that. So yeah.

Sounds to me like Kiara thinks it's individual disagreements with management, plus problems dealing with a Japanese business, coming to roost over years. In her opinion, it doesn't sound like Cover's going to crash and burn, but rather will start bleeding several graduations a year and turnover will become the new normal. I don't think anyone is saying that's good, but it's not a single issue crisis, if you trust Kiara like I do anyway.

Gonna take a while but hopefully I'll have something later today.

Proctor's experience with managers
Basically - "A cock is the same as any other cock when you've deep-throated enough of them. A manager from a nip company's is the same as the one from the local plant"

You know, back in the day we couldn't even play Square Enix games. Now we can. So if anything that's getting better, I would say. Remember when I was so pissed, I was like "Oh my god, I just want to play Final Fantasy games." And then I played one and I was like, ohhh. But you just want the thing that they don't want to give you.
That's because you only played 16 and nothing else :urtearingmeapart:

And also if it really was that, girls always have the choice to take a break from certain projects. They don't have to participate in every project. For someone who went through the idol fleshpits to actually believe there isn't any negatives to not participate on the "totally optional event everyone is open to apply" is hilarious. Before they went public they might've not been that anal about who doesn't want to do the whole song and dance but once you introduce shareholders that shit isn't gonna fly for much longer. They might not say it to their faces but they will keep track of who are the people who don't play ball and they will be passed on on sponsorships or events they might actually want to participate.

Any business operates like that and the japanese might not fire them but they sure as hell make your life miserable for you to quit. It wouldn't surprise me if whatever takeshi no friends that they have now as head manager is telling other managers to be incompetent to the talents that don't want to be 1000% into the new holo so they leave and can get people who will.
