I do kind of wonder if Proctor doesn't hear about positive experiences with managers simply because vtubers with positive experiences with their managers have less reason to approach him. Sample bias and all.
He is a dramatuber, no shit the only thing he hears is bitching and trying to push the negative narrative. In anything you are always going to hear more bad than good, because people who are content with something don't particularly feel the need to talk about it

I am not a dramatuber. I talk to people that are happy with their careers and trajectories all the time. I know vtubers who have gone from 5 CCV to several hundred in a year. That's why I mainly watch indies, because their scene is thriving, while the corporate scene is dying. It's dying right before your eyes, and pretending it isn't won't make the corpse stink any less.

Just because Cover has made some mistakes doesn't mean it's dying, it just lost two of its largest JP members, it's not going to repeat this mistake. It's not a corpse, it's not dying, it just has some infected wounds it can and will tend to

that's nothing...especially when major corpos including niji give you at least 1k (unless you are finana) consistent viewers from debut.

it won't die unless the companies get dissolved which will never happen since Brave exists, and Holo will keep existing for at least the concerts and merch, besides even Wactor is still alive despite people shitting on it's corpse at every opportunity.

If the mistakes were fixable then there wouldn't be any graduations. Fauna would not throw away an incredibly lucrative career as the top 0.001% of vtubers in the whole industry if she thought there was even a remote chance of her situation changing. The top talents are abandoning ship. Face reality.

More than half of my content is not drama related. I have deliberately passed up multiple opportunities to stream about drama-related events. EIEN, Kawaii, the most recent Hololive graduations - all of which I could have streamed about and farmed for clout + attention. I don't do that, because I'm not a dramatuber. I don't care about drama, unless it specifically amuses me in a way I find funny. I want to see this industry change and address its abusive, damaging practices that destroy careers, ruin livelihoods, disrupt fanbases and foster an astonishingly toxic work environment that regularly sees the biggest talents in the industry passive-aggressively gossiping about each other on wretched hives like /vt/, and getting connections primarily via whose vr chat avatar they had cybersex with during the COVID afterparty scene.

95% of Brave's talents are barely even 2view status. They are blatantly an investor honeypot and operate a nakedly predatory business model that promises to be either a black hole, or to end with pruning roughly 4/5ths of their assets to refocus their remaining resources onto the actually profitable parts of their portfolio. As for WACTOR... holy shit my man if this is your criteria for 'alive' then I guess Jesus never really needed that resurrection.

What do I even do then? Just accept my oshi is gonna be whipped like Boxer from Animal Farm to an early graduation and stop following her activities because it will all end in tragedy? I have to be optimistic that things will get better. I will not act like the Vtuber Industry is beyond salvation due to some sample bias examples from the worst elements of the industry. Not every corpo is Nijisanji, or Wactor, or V&U, or Idol. Some are still fine.

Nah, in current state they'll need at least two more painful financial hits/declines to steer back and lower talents workloads.

1k CCV :selenpointandlaugh:
Yeah, and these corpos are Holo&Vshojo in EN and Holo&Niji&VSPO is JP. Everyone else gets low to mid 3view at best, but mostly 2view.

Yes, you should. Accepting reality is the first step to figuring out how to change it. You have to stare down the truth and absorb its implications. You will always be helpless and one step away from crushing disappointment if you constantly search for a rosy-cheeked reality where people are better than they actually are. Only then, after you've done that, will you be able to see ways to help that truly matter. You fight for what you want, or you resign yourself to having it taken away from you, time and again, by people that will spit in your face and laugh as you scurry away to find a new distraction for them to come and steal from you whenever it pleases them.

Swear every time a corpo has major controversy you always jump at the opportunity to preach about the "Indie master race" and writes paragraphs like a smug movie critic.

I think we should be rational and not rely on tea leave astrologization or rrats here

2019 was a good year for Hololive
2020 was a tumultuous year
2021 was a good year
2022 saw Rushia's termination and Sana's graduation
2023 was a good year with Advent and Regloss
2024 was a year that started with a termination and continued with a graduation rush and constant complains of overwork

It's clear from this pattern that 2025 will be a good year for Hololive clearly. Even years are unlucky, odd years go well.

What else am I supposed to do? Stay quiet and say nothing is wrong, when in the last year, the biggest corporation in vtubing has effectively killed its international wing through multiple massive, crippling blunders, the 2nd largest has lost multiple members of its top talent pool, and there have been multiple other implosions among the smaller corporations that sprung up in the shadow of their former successes?

At what point am I 'allowed' or 'permitted' to talk about this kind of thing, exactly? Name the amount of talents that need to graduate, please. Perhaps we should collaborate and establish an official 'Selen Scale' for describing corporate maleficence, and have a little gauge on the corner of these threads I can monitor and know when a 7.5 Tatsukis level yab has taken place and I'm permitted to come and give my opinions.

It's such a foregone conclusion that gura is out the door, I would be more surprised that fans would find this surprising to begin with.
But history has shown, it's the least-likely vtubers who graduate, and usually when you least expect it.

I don't know how people always come back to corpo vs indie when that is the most reductive fight/argument for the flaws in vtubing. If you want to legitimately argue it, you have to pretend both "sides" (stupid) haven't spent the last year tripping, shitting, and humiliating themselves but also pretend that they haven't had some amazing events and accomplishments.

Like it's easy to look at big names like Doki or small chill ones like Randon and say indie is the way to go

Two of those, as far as I know, are still very well connected or popular in the indie sphere despite the stuff around them, things that people are just willing to ignore, defend, or cherry pick. It's easy to call this dumb and say "no, not those indies" but we've been doing that all year with corpos too.

I can't remember where to find that picture of all the small corpos that were born in 2020-21 and died in 24, but pretend I posted that here.

People are fine with sitting in the sewage as long as their sitting with someone who might be a friend and all that entails. I don't know about you, but I usually don't let guilty by association get to me, but shrugging your shoulders to active harassers and worse actually bothers me. The self destructive, profits over people style of japanese management bothers me.

This isn't a corpo cocksuck or an indie hate post. I'm trying to say that the details of the state of vtubing are worse than most of us on this board could ever know and trying to wrap it up in a nice pretty "us vs them" argument like american politics is missing the forest for the trees.
