If the rrat that they are going full Idol is true, than I think they are shitting the bed! I don't give a fuck about the idol stuff, which is an incrediblly odd thing to say because we're talking Hololive here. But it's true. The idol stuff has always taken a backseat to my enjoyment of the HL girls.

Don't get me wrong, I love that most these girls sing like angels. And it's always a great time seeing them perform. But the songs and performances are few and far between. I watch mainly for the personality behind the avatar that shines through every time they stream.

I will continue to watch though. I haven't become some retard Hololive anti just because a talent, albeit a major one, is graduating.There are still plenty of amazing talents in the company. But it's a very odd coincidence that within the last 4 months, there has been major hitters who've either graduated or done this little gay "you'll still see my puppet trotted out for merch" arrangement. It doesn't bode well is all I'm saying.

Public shareholders only control something like 25% of the company.
Yagoo himself remains the biggest shareholder, the last report I saw (from 2023 admittedly) he controlled 40% of shares.
In practical terms that means no one has more power to set the company's direction than he does. This is management problem, not a shareholder/board problem.

In all likelihood it's just a matter of management putting too much of a priority on performances and the greater "Brand," suffocating the creativity and expression of its talents. Hopefully Yagoo can stop the bleeding. He's genuinely done a good job, recognizing problems when they come around and working to fix them. Here's hoping he continues that trend.

I was going to reply to one of your earlier posts in the thread and another in the graduation announcement thread that a possible form of new Red-tape for the girls is "Brand Image". Projects get canceled all the time, sure. That's part of the job, but what if that's changed to where projects that would've been okay before are now getting axed because "Sorry, that doesn't fit your Brand."? We already had a small hint of this happening when Management started to tell the girls that they can't just attach random animal ears onto their model like, a year or so ago.

I said in the graduation thread that Hololive is Streaming-Agency-Disney. I get that's confusing for one and I said that in the heat-of-the-moment. It's more like they're focused on making talents fit into brands/brand images. Way more corporatized, being creative is still encouraged! But if it has any sort of risk to investment and/or your "brand" it's getting a no-go from management now.

Cover literally says so on their main page addressing affiliate status after Chloe's announcement.
Affiliate just means a graduate that will occasionally revisit and wants the merchandise royalties tugboat of cash. Maybe there is a non-compete for that, too.
Graduations are still on the table.

I'm guessing that affiliates don't have an explicit non-compete in the deal, since it seems to be passive agreement that could be activated or not at some unspecified, future point. However, most corpos probably has it as a bare minimum requirement that in order to sign with them you can't still have any official ties to any other vtuber corpo, so they wouldn't agree to sign a holo affiliate.

I'd never imagine Holo would get their own L thread but here we are. I'm not the type to doomerpost immediately considering Cover's good track record over the years but the last few graduations really have soured my trust just a bit more.

I don't know what nonsense is going on behind the scenes but Yagoo better do something fast before it spirals out of control. Fauna graduating instead of becoming an affiliate is the clear first sign something has gone horribly wrong somewhere and it will only get worse.

I think the difference is that holo has still done a lot of big stuff this year that took a ton of effort on the part of management and staff like Enreco and GTA, but now there's just a sour taste left with Ame, Chloe, and Fauna leaving so quickly.
