you say that as if Bae, IRyS and FuwaMoco didn't just exploit the shorts meta, I would barely count that as grinding considering you would get like 5k subs per short stream during a specific period, and fauna had a lot of subs without even touching the short streams format, and besides Bae would have taken longer if shorts weren't a thing with it's artificial sub inflation.
Bae didn't benefit nearly as much as IRyS and Fuwamoco did from it since she didn't really do them until later and most of her short streams are her Midnight Monday Radio ones. Hell, she did that 24 hour marathon and only got a few thousand.
I'm not saying Fauna doesn't deserve it, I'm just saying that if i was something that she cared enough to make happen, she could have easily done it herself. Has she even commented when members have said "You're so close to 1 million!" this week?

according to Holodex bae has 6 pages of shorts (probably 5 if you exclude the shorts that are not on her channel,) IRyS has 2 (probably 1 if you exclude the ones that are not on her channel,) FuwaMoco has 2 and most are streams, if anything Bae has the most amount of shorts meaning she was chasing subs the easy way compared to fauna which Holodex doesn't even display her shorts page properly since she barely did any and afaik did 0 short streams.
that wasn't a short stream format, shorts would get at least 5k some went up to 8/9k subs depending on the content, which karaoke would net the most.
she stated multiple times she didn't like shorts, my guess is she didn't want a bunch of tourists flooding her channel through her spamming shorts and probably hated the inorganic growth it brought. afaik she was at like 966k subs at the time she announced her graduation which she would have absolutely hit a million on her own early next year if she wouldn't have graduated, if anything she wanted to do it at her own pace instead of abusing the shorts loophole which was the easy way.
I don't think anyone said anything to her about her sub count this week as far a I remember.
