Nah, this is like first time Flipsie being terminally online twittard resulted in actually good and useful comment.

Seriousface for a moment, I feel like Council was heavily nerfed by management. Mumei's stream content seems to have been restricted pretty heavily, Irys had her model debuff and management being clueless about English music output, Rrat exists for 3D concerts which didn't happen forever, and Sana was a hiring mistake.

If Council appeared at the time Advent appeared, all but the Sana issue would be significantly reduced or disappear altogether. Vice versa, if Advent appeared at the time Council did, Shiori would've been giganerfed (and probably called it quits), Nerissa forced into a damn near pure singer role only to fall flat on her face, and the retarded canines would've failed auditions because they didn't match Omega's ~lore~

It wasn't Niji tier bad, but even so, it can hardly be overstated how fucked Holo EN's management was in late 2021- late 2022, and how much fixing it helped later gens.

Council actually did pretty well despite the management nerf, all things considered.
I didn't think about it that way. I agree that it seemed like whatever was going on at the time neutered the content and potential of all the Council girls, although I also agree with the perspective that they were all generally chill streamers when I wasn't really looking for that at the time.

I don't mean to say that Council was a mistake, but simply that at that particular time, I was on the market for VTubers to get attached to, and Council didn't click with me then, which pretty much ensured that - at least for EN - I wouldn't be on the Holo train. At the time Council came out, Lazusydia still had new car smell, and Ethyria was still in the works. Lazulight and Obsydia seemed like stronger gens by comparison. By the time Advent came around, I was already knee-deep in small corpo land. I still occasionally check out a couple of streams from Shiori and Biboo, but I could never get them on my regular rotation after the first few months.

Being a newcomer (reletively speaking) to VTubers, hearing all the behind the scenes stuff, even if it's considered 'common knowledge' is wild.

I had heard rumours of Holo managers being utterly incompetent and the fact that the Austrian Chicken had a hand in rightfully getting almost all of them dropped for decent ones (is this due to an experience Kiara had? Or am I misremembering?) which helped them really shine. To think looking back from now, that there was ever issues.

The main thing is which wave had the bigger issues, Holo EN Gen 1, or the second generation? Both gens had big problems (both behind the scenes and up front) so who had it 'the worst' so to speak?
Council, hands down. They had to go through the retardedness of Omega Alpha with having that 8 hour IRyS countdown, IRyS debuting solo a month before Council, 10+ hours of the Council debut stream (5 debuts an hour long and a 30 min break for each debut. My brain cells died that day), the Sana face, having a teaser for Omega Alpha, having no direction for IRyS and also the 3D delay because of COVID. Council got mightily fucked from the start but it's all part of history now. We have Promise and Sana's in a better place. Fuck that femboy Omega though, he was the cancer that almost killed HoloEN.

All hail Dimitri Jap and YAGOOK, they are the rightful captains who steered HoloEN on its current course. Without them then we wouldn't have all these new talents, events, merch and concerts.

Say what you want about Cover, EN is mighty fed these days. I mean we're getting voice packs like once a week after EnReco. NijiEN on the other hand...

I see, I take it Omega was the main fuck tard staff member causing issues for a council?
And holy fuck, I'm suprised that that happened, as they are such a well oiled machine today. Is there anywhere I can read up on this, or is the info scattered all around and I need to properly sit down and read up on this?
He was the main fucktard, yes. Kiara was roasting him all over the place after he was gone because he went ALL IN on "VTuber Lore" which is what killed the vibes of Council outright as the girls just wanted to stream and not push the lore bullshit. I really wanna know who Cover rejected when they're doing auditions for EN gen2. If any of Pomu, Selen or Rosemi got rejected because Omega wanted "big noomber streamers" for Council then he certainly deserved to get fired, mind you that you'd certainly be an idiot to not get any of the Council girls in Holo but since EN was on a huge momentum Cover could easily release 2 gens at that time and it'll all be dandy. Hindsight do be 20/20.

For info about that time, I got those mostly from the homeland, dramatubers and clips. There are some here you just gotta search for it.

I mean, I think etiquette is still part of that. A friend has more leeway to do shit like this than a bunch of randos, especially retards like Flipsie.

Most of the growing pains were experienced together between Myth and Council, to be honest. Myth had their own problems by being the ones at the forefront and having no one to really look to for guidance. I think they were allowed to do pretty much whatever they wanted their first year, within limitations. 2022 was when things really were at their worst thanks to management, which affected everyone, plus CouncilRyS debuted with a lot of arbitrary bullshit they had to follow, where nowadays, it seems like they just tell talents to be themselves. Ultimately, though? Probably IRyS, actually. Project Hope was a massive fuck-up in just about every conceivable way since the very start.

She never should have debuted solo. They willingly put her in an awkward state of isolation by doing so. After which, they treated her as a separate thing entirely even as late as the CTW concert. She had no creative input whatsoever on her music, which lead to mediocre songs that were completely outside her physical comfort zone, which almost destroyed her throat not even half a year in. The project was mismanaged with MVs never being ready on time and sometimes releasing months after the song. The songs themselves were also almost never released in a timely manner, having been recorded by IRyS months before they actually released.

That was on top of all the normal BS everyone else had to put up with.

Damn, I heard how bad Irys had it, but not as bad as that.

Incredible looking back to think back what the fuck the EN managers were smoking. Luckily, Irys got the support she needed, was folded into second gen (and I'm going to say that Sana, as lovely as she is, should not have been a hire due to her health issues. Irys should have been in her spot.) and actually getting songs that suit her and managers that are not utter dribbling retards.

Hmm. Would this also be at the time Holo got rightfully shit on for one of their JP talents getting harassed to fuck over an accidental model leak? Man, 2022 Cover Corp was a fucking shitshow.
EDIT: The Aloe incident was before this, so my timing was way off. Oops.

Never ever heard any of this
Please cite your source newfag
Edit: If you are talking about the Mano Aloe incident that was even before Myth debuted so it was completely unrelated to 2022

Mano aloe incident was around Myth debuts, if not slightly earlier.

Michi drops some nuggets of info about how Niji pays their livers from an ID POV (timestamp 11:12). Basically she said was supposed to receive her payout on a fixed date but best case was on time, worst case late by a month. She says if the company chooses to transfer her when the currency conversion rate is low she gets less IDR than expected.

My speculation: You know what I can see this black company giving Michi an explanation by pulling up an exchange rate chart, showing her the lower "buy" FX rates for the day and putting the calculation through multiple conversions of USD to JPY to USD to IDR and deducting even more charges. Fucking scummy move.

As the thread's resident Promisefag, this is 100% a correct take. Fauna's girlfriends Shiori, Nerissa, Bijou, Cecilia, and Gigi have done nothing wrong.
Thank you, fellow Promisefag.
Mask off moment, JP merge happening soon.

Is this their last hurrah at freedom before JP management actually kneels on their neck when they merge, or are they just ready to go too? The thought of a free Enna scares me. :dokiDread:

Omega was trying to self-insert his chuuni alternate ego into the already super chuuni Council roster. Like a forced YAGOO meme. The problem with that is that Yagoo became an ascended meme by being polite & likeable & guiding Holo through troubled waters. He's just a nice ojisan who happens to have a killer business sense.

Damn, I heard how bad Irys had it, but not as bad as that.
In my opinion, very few Holomem's got debuffed harder than IRyS. She's a super talented singer and speaks EN & JP so fluently, she could've easily been like Coco but good at music. Instead the Project HOPE managers dropped the ball so hard that the ball instantly tunneled directly through the planet's core and kill someone on the other side of the planet.

For example, IRyS released 3 EP's and 7 singles even before reaching 700k subs and announcing her 2.0 redesign. And then she didn't release a single bit of original music until Carbonated Love a few months ago, an almost 2-year gap in new music. Considering she was originally supposed to primarily be a v-singer, it's a huge fuck-up.

Fuck Omega, glad he's gone.

That happened because Project Hope was basically abandoned by mid 2022. IRyS' spirit was so thoroughly crushed by how poorly it was ran and how little her opinion mattered, she spoke about times she would cry herself to sleep over how miserable she was. She basically was in limbo from then on until they created Promise. Like to give you perspective of just how fucked up Project Hope was, I remember her talking about songs she recorded back around debut that hadn't been released yet... in mid spring of 2022 lol.

CL's release and success did a lot of good for her mental.

This didn't get posted here.
Not counting the last wave, it seems everyone in EN is in the new concert except for Alban and Fulgur. That means the graduation train is over until next year unless those two are leaving.

rrat details:
-Alban and Fulgur debuted in February, which would put Nov/Dec in the perfect range for a graduation.
-Rosemi and Petra have the highest number of songs in the concert, matched only by Maria. Petra has also not streamed in 3/4 months. End of the wave?

Definitely not. Unless something dramatic changed between his hiatus and now, he is in it for the long haul and has reiterated that time and time again. He is probably not part of the festival since he was on hiatus during the timeframe where the performances were recorded/decided.
- Fulgur
Maybe, probably not. He talks a lot about behind the scenes stuff, but never negatively about Nijisanji I think. He doesn't actively say that he's definitely not leaving like a lot of other livers, but he doesn't seem unhappy right now even though he is missing a lot of stuff due to his circumstances (he always says Anycolor offers him alternatives to traveling but he turns them down. But he was at least part of Uki's 3D, probably through a proxy actor). He is probably not part of the festival since all the performances were recorded in Japan, even Scarle travelled to Japan for her single performance (and probably some other business).
- Rosemi and Petra
Maybe, out of all of them probably the most likely. Obviously the most impacted by what happened in February and neither has really recovered since in any aspect. Rosemi hasn't had a consistent schedule in forever but at least streams sometimes and Petra hasn't streamed since the anniversary but appears in collabs sometimes.

No, as much as I think Sana/Namie is a very entertaining streamer and gave CouncilRyS a sense of unity, she probably wouldn't have stuck around. If you check out her interview with Pixiv on Youtube (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) it becomes clear that, as much as she seems to enjoy streaming, Namie loves drawing more than most parents love their children and more than some people love their next breath of air. I think everyone - including her - underestimated just how much she'd miss drawing all day long.

So yeah, when I hear Fauna or Mumei or Kronii or Calli or anyone talk about just how much unending Holo Homework they have, it seems almost inevitable that Namie'd eventually have called it quits so she could go back to her one true passion.

For better or worse, Hololive only hires talents with ambition & passion. Unlike Niji, who I think must've found Twisty sucking on a moist sock in an alleyway for nourishment. SEE I BROUGHT IT BACK ON TOPIC SO IT WASN'T JUST A POINTLESS MEANDERING RAMBLE.

E:
Okay, let's really drill down on that, cuz I'm bored and caught up with work & streams.

Senzawa would've been a clutch hire for any vtuber agency in 2020, she's cute & funny & an incredible singer but she's also the kind of restless introverted creator who was always gonna get ground down by JP corpo autism re: game perms, music perms, not-being-offense perms, etc.

And knowing what we know now about how Nijisanji operates, rizzle me this, GyattMan: would Senzawa/Gura fared any better as an early NijiEN hire??? Would she have rocketed to an incredible 4 million subs and become the de facto face of the company overseas, beloved by millions?

Or would she, like Selen, have been the nail sticking too high up that Elira and the rest of the nepohire squad proceeded to pound back down to their level until she was just as broken and over it as Selen?

Literally no one would be better in Nijisanji EN than Hololive. My actual point was that if Hololive actually cared about ambition and passion, rather than say, money, Gura would have been graduated a long time ago.....
