Just looked it up. It was Universal trying to sue Nintendo for trademark infringement of King Kong with Donkey Kong. Nintendo was just a small Japanese company against a media giant in the foreign American courts, so everyone expected Nintendo to lose. However Universal had accidentally lost their rights to the King Kong IP and Nintendo won the lawsuit. Ever since then, Nintendo has made sure it never happened to them. The lawyer that won them the lawsuit was Jack Kirby, the namesake for the Kirby character.

Can someone who's seen the heist-era video provide some context? In what way was the video about her family?

I'd encourage anyone doing a video involving family to lie or not be fully truthful at least in some ways for anti-doxxing reasons, but not in a way that would make you feel uncomfortable.
