I will say something about phase that will probably get me attacked by the phasekek gangs in this forum but, I do not think phase is comparable to Holo or even upholding anything Holo was or is, good or bad. I do not think phase is a worthy successor or even a remotely similar company to Holo.

To me phase has always been a watered down version of an early Holo, spawned after the boom like Tsunderia, Prism, Kawaii and others. All of these Small corpos were never like Holo, they were what a western guy who was a new fan of Holo in 2020 thought Holo was, aka all of the raunchy memes and clips that get reposted in social media of marine saying "I'm horny" or the "hag" meme or talents saying nigga. A lot of western vtubing is based on a mix of trying to copy their favorite aspects of Holo in the boom (the memes and clips) and Vshojo whoredom.

You basically took Holo, flanderized it and made it an agency, that's phase imo. Now the flanderization of that standard vtubing experience that people came to know in 2020 (or earlier if you are old) has been further removed and mutilated to the point that we get fleshposting and vtuber vs irl and other shit, to the point where there's no more v in vtuber and you're just left with the ol' "streamers with a gimmick" standby because there's A MENHERA FEMALE BEHIND THE AVATAR AND SHE PAYS ATTENTION TO ME AND ONLY ME. But if that's what EOPs want, then I guess that's what EOPs will get.

Edit: Keen observers will notice that I never stated any of this makes phase or other agencies BAD, just not the same or in my eyes a replacement should Holo become irreversibly pozzed or go down the shitter tomorrow.

Phase was obviously influenced by early Hololive (Fishman saying he wanted his own Marine should be evidence enough of that) but I think it's evolved beyond its origin to be its own thing, especially after the first year. There's very different rules of conduct for the talents, and very different expectations on content from the audience. Even if Hololive and Phase Connect occasionally have concerts where talents wear mocap suits to dance and sing to jpop and jpop-like music as their anime girl avatars.

As for replacing Hololive, there are millions of fans of Hololive and those fans all have different things they want from Hololive and its talents. It would be impossible for Phase Connect to meet all of those different expectations. But for some people, if Hololive ever collapsed (I hope it doesn't), Phase Connect is going to give them the content they want. Just a few days ago we saw the chart that about 12% of Gawr Gura's viewers are also Phase Connect viewers, after all.

Niji has always been the alternative to Holo, they were never going to adopt the same strategy. Phase is filial but they found success elsewhere. I'd say phase is much more in tune to where the EN side of things is headed than Holo. Holo is a relic from the past and though still popular, the EN market is shifting away from it.

I don't see any evidence that Hololive is a relic of the past, or that the market is shifting away from them. Even forgetting their past achievements or current talent sub numbers, Hololive's viewing numbers are still growing as of the end of 2024 and they're still by far the number one corpo by size and viewing numbers in the vtuber sphere.

- Aikatsu is super autism, Polka was surprised she was given perms to sing one full song and it might be the first time the girls get to sing the full "Happy Reflection" song on stage. The company specifically doesn't allow the girls from singing their full song on their own concerts, only one chorus is allowed (because it is like that in the game)
- new holo stage feature: there are so many more lights you can use and polka told them to use everything. Polka specifically requested them to add the feature to have different colour rim lighting cause up until now it was only white

- The puppet choreography was actually super hard despite how simple it looks, a lot of fast & full body movement involving speeeening and all the little finger movements. Polka actually ran out of breath. If the song was any longer she wouldn't have made it.
- Likes eating taiyaki from the head because she can stare at the fish eyes while chomping down on it
- Wanted to do a Polka producer style concert again but it seems impossible now as Holomems got a lot busier.
- Wanted to have signature on both the set and album be unlimited. But holostaff told her she will actually die if doing so. The signed album are actually unlimited right now on the store but slated to be removed after some time.
- Reminiscent about her early days when she streamed by plugging LAN cable into phone line because her microwave interrupts her wifi

Aikatsu is absolutely amazing. Especially the first season. It exploded into popularity back at the end of 2012, the first year of the anime it was crazy successful and while it eventually fell off it was still a good product for a long time. I'm not surprised that Polka and other idol vtubers would be into it. Has some really great songs as well, although I don't think anyone sings the signature "Idol Activities" anymore.

Seeing her on her dream stage was amazing. Her 3-stage tour last year was pretty good and I expected a similar quality this time, but today was different. The setlist was mostly from her recently-released 3rd album, which was full of bangers (I gotta shill Mayu to Kokoro cause the godlike jazz/rock vibe made it my favorite album song). She knocked every performance out the park and then some. You could feel how happy she was to be in the Budokan and how much it translated to her singing.

Towards the end, she revealed her original outfit in 3D, then sang Stellar Stellar and Next Color Planet which felt nostalgic as hell. She reflected on where she started and how far she's come, which had her (along with everyone watching) in tears. She talked about how grateful she was that everyone stayed with her all this time. She thought about quitting at so many points, but thinking about how sad everyone would be kept her going through the tough moments. After that, she revealed another outfit based on her original one, like a new 2025 version of 2018 Suisei. In that outfit while still crying, she performed a new song that she said was made with those feelings of gratitude. It was one of the best performances not just of today, but in Hololive history.

For the finale, a bunch of Holo members sent her congratulatory messages and they all connected to form the blue triangle. Afterwards, she performed an absolutely blessed rendition of Kirameki Rider. 7 years of gratitude expressed again but this time, to Hololive and her fellow members. The encore performances were just as great, especially Soiree cause it's one of her favorite songs and she always puts so much energy into it.

But she's not done yet! She saw that some people were worried about her quitting now that she achieved her #1 dream, but Hoshimachi Suisei isn't going anywhere! She wants to keep singing for us and aim even higher. Her next big goal is to perform at the Tokyo Dome and she hopes that everyone will continue supporting her as her journey continues. She announced 2 new songs getting released tomorrow and the day after. One of them was that Gundam song that was mentioned a bit ago, the other was the new emotional song she sang today called Orbital Period. And she also announced that this live will be happening again next year. Nice to see her coming back to the Budokan so soon.

I dunno. Watching this whole thing reminded me of the Hololive that I want to believe in. Women working hard to make people smile, accomplish their dreams and all the emotions that happen along the way. Fubuki's live and 6th fes are coming up so I'm sure I'll be feeling this way again, but I definitely needed it after the mess that was last year. Thanks to comet woman for working so hard over the years to make this happen. However long it takes, I hope I get to see Subaru on this stage one day.
