To be fair, Pennsylvania is currently a "battleground" state in the 2024 election season. They're going to be pouring all the ads to an overly obnoxious degree there. I haven't really seen or had any ads that aren't state-level "do/don't vote for this bullshit for the state" in my neck of the country.

Correct, I get at least 3 texts an hour from various BS political groups asking me to vote for crypto interests/Kameltoe/Trump/David McCormick/Bob Casey Jr. or fill out some poll, and this is despite me running TextKiller on my phone specifically to filter out political spam

I hate the EVERYONE GO VOOT NOW shit so much. It's not as prominent in the UK as in the US but there's still an overwhelming guilt trip on everyone to show up and vote in general elections, as though political inaction is some kind of sin.

Pressuring people who are not politically engaged to skim a few headlines or just pick the guy their friends/partner/parents tell them to is not democracy, if anything it undermines democracy, because the impact of votes from people who've actually looked over the candidates and made an informed choice on who they want running the country are diluted by a bunch of 18-year-olds who might as well have just decided on a coin flip.

I tried checking their Twitter to see if they'd posted any links to fundraisers or GoFundMe's but their Twitter is (probably smartly) approved follower only mode.

I tried looking for a Tumblr since they seem the type & Gaza escape fundraising is huge on Tumblr but no dice. If they are fundraising for Gaza on their Twitter, it's potentially limited to their 16k Twitter followers or the five people actually using Bluesky.

Meaning Mana's bitchy fights with the community that necessitate their Twitter be private are less important than the lives of dying children in Gaza. Nice priorities, Mana.
