My pet rrat is that one of the investors got impatient and suddenly decided to pull their funds from the company before the end of the year. Might be threatening to take action/hold the company hostage otherwise. This would explain why basically everyone was caught off-guard.

If it was a change in management/acquisition the mood would have been very different and we would have seen PL activity way in advance of this. If it was purely because of poor financial performance, then it would make more sense to push through with the Christmas events since they would have made quite a bit of money.

I suppose things are going on behind-the-scenes, maybe the company is looking for a quick cash transfusion or working some legal chicanery. No choice but to wait and see.
Yeah this is my assumption as well, they must have lost an investor. Too much stuff planned for it to have been a normal company failure.

It also adds to the vibe that the girls seem genuinely confused about what's going to happen. The company seemed really good so far, so hopefully they can at least keep their stuff.

And that Investor that pulled out?

Yes you guessed it, Frank Stallone

Given several of them have already run off to alt accounts I'm guessing they can't, or the IP's in some kind of limbo right now. Unless they've had an impulsive overreaction which is still entirely possible, because, y'know, women.

I kind of wonder how new small corpos (Variance Project, Stellar Verse Productions) are feeling about almost all their predecessors dying. And dying fsster as time goes on.

I'm sure their management thinks "Yeah, but we're better than that!"

But so did everyone else. Other than Phase Connect and Vshojo, they all died. Okay, Idol was bought out, but that was just Aviel shifting the loss to Brave, while most of the top performers left.

Any money invested in a small EN corpo?

Basically gone.

I got a hit on my 'ask random people I know for info' dart-throwing. Not a direct source, but close and connected enough to be a solid insider perspective.

tl;dr:

Massive overspending, hugely in debt, no business plan aside from 'hopefully we get a Gura-level star'. No good news in at least the last year and a half. Some of the modellers and riggers for their crew cost 10k just for art, with rigging being in the same region.

Thanks for not vagueposting this time, genuinely

Damn. I'm too much of a committed phasefag to actually watch PL(way too many fucking chuubas to keep tabs on), but from the outside looking in, they seemed like a fun bunch.
Will be a shame if they're truly dead, because now the golden standard of a 2025 small vtuber agency will be, uh, VAllure.

Well, fuck me I guess. Never get invested in seeing new things thrive, people. Just stick to consooming from established agency and get excited for more established agency. That or sail the Twitch seas in search of decent indies.
Then again, I hate to say I called it but
NGL I low-key hope Kanna's been setting money aside to buy her IP if worst comes to worst. The other PixelLink girls are great too, but it's hard to believe the company's sustainable with their current numbers.
They were inclining so I'd hoped that at least they had investor runway for a couple more years, seems like it's not the case :pippasadl:

Thanks for the info, boss. The fact that the rigging was so good even for Gen 1 suggested that they were spending much more than other corpos, hardly surprising to see it confirmed.
If that's the amount they're in the hole for each model, then Kanna can probably squeeze the community enough to buy it for herself if she wants it. The other girls... Not so much. I'm especially sorry for Wisu, this is like her 5th attempt at corpo vtubing and it was a shit week for her already with her dog's health issues.
I wonder if Kanna will keep doing her community event organiser shtick with the ex-corpos now.

I'm once again asking companies to set their revenue split and spend money realistically, so they can sustain themselves long enough to benefit from success.

It was archived before.

"transparency" and "talent-focus", this tweet has been strategically engineered to give Dizzy a stroke.

Didn't Sakana establish earlier this year that yeah, those are the prices any decent artist/rigger will be asking for their work without any kind of discounts present?

Just stick to consooming from established agency and get excited for more established agency.
...When you put it like that it kinda makes me feel weirdly-guilty over accidentally jumping on Phase train right as they were leaving the small-corpo station.
Kinda, but, eh, not really.

Seriously tho, i feel for ya, getting a rug pulled from under you in this fashion sucks.

That's a shame, I actually thought PL was one of the better microcorpos. It's a shame so many corpos have failed in 2024 and that so many vtubers have graduated across the board. I find it tragic.

How will Phase Connect benefit from this?

If that's the case, then the other small corpos were cutting corners, and the barrier of entry for a model that is eye-catching for the public has become so high that yeah, no new corpos have a chance of succeeding unless they get a Gura-tier successful personality from Gen 1.

I meant that as a joke on the general state of the industry, don't worry! I was literally listening to Bae's Christmas Eve dinner with Subaru, Towa and Mio as I typed that. New market entrants are not owed anyone's attention or money, our leisure time and spare income is limited as it is for gambling it on organisations and personalities of uncertain quality or, as it was the case here, staying power.

Yup.
...Also makes sense why Teru rigs most of Phase's models nowadays, sure he's pretty damn good, but he also probably provides frequent-buyer discounts considering how much work Sakana has for him.
