Since Offkai is now announced for 2025, I'm making this thread well in advance to both reserve it for the calendar and have a thread available for any potential controversies like occurred last year.

I would like to highly encourage anyone here who has the chance to volunteer for Offkai staff duties. It was obvious last year that certain demographics effectively had a veto power over anyone who attended if they were deemed guilty of wrongthink, and I think it's important to be the change you want to see in the industry.

I've nothing further to add yet. This thread will probably - hopefully - remain somewhat dormant until it's closer to the time, but given Offkai's track record, I think it's worth having a containment space just in case.

I don't see why encouraging people to volunteer and give a convention better service and accessibility for people is an evil thing to anyone apart from those who are completely ideologically captured. I encouraged people to volunteer for Vexpo too and only didn't myself because it was already too late by then.

I think that if anyone here does volunteer and get in, posting about it should be the last thing they do.

Both because doing so could give them clues as to who you are, and also because nobody posting about it will leave them unsure and paranoid about whether there might be traitors in their midst.

Many indies already think here's the Vtuber KF, you're a bit behind the times.
Asking doesn't hurt, but why would any inmate sacrifice their time and enjoyment in this Earth to be as miserable as possible servicing pozzed individuals just to be ousted as a "chud" if they don't fit in right away? You should be asking Offkai's organizers to hire people, so lettersoup goblins can't do much damage.

In other convention news, OffKai is saying they will not invite the same VTuber two years in a row from now on. If that only concerns individual VTubers or corpos as well is not specified. That means that a VTuber who was a guest at last year's OffKai will not be able to take part in this year's convention, except for Panels, events and, I would imagine, appearances at partner booths.

From the general thread. Looks like OffKai won't invite any VTubers that attended last year, at least not in an official capacity. I'm sure there will be meet and greets and other activities at partner booths just like last year, where someone that attended previously might still be able to show up.
And companies like Phase or VShojo will probably be able to get special treatment.

Since there was confusion from newer members on the Discord about why Artemis is so widely disliked, she is a he. Probably one of the first Western skinwalker vtubers that actually gained any level of notoriety and fame, mostly because they tried to ride the blue shark wave that washed over vtubing after Gura made it big. They have no personality beyond their sexuality whatsoever and has no interesting qualities beyond 'I'm a man pretending to be a woman online'.

I guess I can give absolutely infinitesimal credit to him for not going to the oinga boinga titty-monster AGP fantasy that most babiniku indulge in.

I think it could turn out fine. The big and even the mid-sized corpos have enough talents to bring different people this year and there are enough indies for 10 conventions.
Also, if they're really struggling to fill the roster, maybe bring back Niji? As far as I know they still do very well when they attend things like Anime Impulse in the US and they went to the trouble of at least pretending Niji not being there last year was Niji's decision when clearly it wasn't, so I assume they didn't want to burn the bridge completely.

Like I said, I think they have enough options outside of that anyway.
But if they really are somehow not able to fill the program, Niji is still going to have more pull than the 3K subscriber indies they use to pad out the numbers and the reputational impact should be minimal if they stay with the more agreeable Livers.

Remember that Niji has a large number of outspokenly left-leaning (aka racist, bigoted sexists, just orientated towards acceptable targets) members who have shown they're quite willing to bow to the mob. Bringing them aboard is definitely something a virtue signalling con like Offkai would be willing to consider.
