Simple criticism/hate scrolling. VT is anonymous, so some mistakenly believe that it is the best place to source criticism to improve their content. /vt/ is a massive eternal dumpster fire, so it's a good place to go when you want to stare into the void and X isn't cutting it. Also, VT is a decent place to talk shit without repercussions unless they're stupid enough to post identifying info. I imagine some real hatred was thrown by some of these vtubers behind the safety of anonymity, and amongst this group, im willing to wager there are a lot of Beauty Parlour regulars.

I'm actually surprised to hear that. Without giving out any identifying information, were the Vtubers you talked to more on the "big indie/corpo" side or "small indie"? I can see Vtubers browsing /vt/ if they are small and looking for an audience/someone talking about them, but the moment you start to get big the less useful it becomes

He keeps cockteasing about knowing someone who is well connected, probably some big twitch indie who's in a lot of people's pants because this industry is incestuous as shit, specially for twitch and specially for indies. As for small indies he knows a crap load of them, not hard to do since a ton of people you meet in vtuber circles ARE vtubers at an amateur/hobby level.

I seriously doubt Proctor knows anyone in Holo/Niji/Vshojo/Phase/Idol though.

A huge part of big indies nowadays were /asp/ies, and until ~2021 4chan was one of the best places to talk about vtubers besides enclosed spaces.
If you can find an archive of /jp/ before 2021 you will find Nyanners, Nina Saotome, Jowol, and even Pomu, but I advise against searching for the last one.

The list is probably much, much larger, because not everyone break it to 4view or corpos, but you can definitely surmise at least half, if not a bit over half, uses or used the site.

I could be wrong but idk how well informed that contact even is, since bossman has never directly dropped any info which wasn't already public on any big vtubers or agencies, the only stories that have been broken by the asylum are the ones on tiny agencies nobody cares about or individuals.

One way to do it is to reverse-verify the information, for example:
you got credible info that Elira has a ninja death cult, but exposing that information would out the source as there's only a handful of people aware of it. To do it safely you search for evidence of that info that are publicly available (clips, twitter posts, timetables of their online activity, elaborate 4chan rrats that were on the spot, etc).
The stronger your archive game the safer your contact is
It's something I've seen people using and I did as well to not out my fellas.

It really is incredible how far internet safety and literacy has taken a nose-dive in the past decade or so. Back in the day, there was shit like the Disney Surf Swell Island that, while cheesy and somewhat dated, did give some good advice for kids about how to avoid oversharing online and how important proper internet etiquette was during a time when the internet was starting to become a more important aspect of life. The two main things that programs like this taught, however, are two bits of advice that will always be valuable in online spaces: Don't fall for the bait (scammer or otherwise) and don't overshare personal information (whether that be related to your real-life or overly emotional shit).

The fact that you can see Livers at NijiEN consistently failing in following these two pieces of good advice (Alban responding to obvious bait posts about him graduating, Millie's stupid 4chan stream, etc.), really goes to show how instant gratification and clout chasing has ruined (or will begin to ruin) a lot of communities.

It's business. Every agency has serious dirt on them. The entire vtubing corposphere is a giant pool of incompetent half-asses whose sources of success are the naïve women who trust them implicitly and never read or simply refuse to ask clarification for 9/10ths of the bullshit paperwork that gets handed to them or done in their name.

This is not secret, nor is it very hard to figure out. But there are no alternatives besides places like Hololive, and even they screw up semi-frequently, so it's a case of 'sure that guy got mangled in an industrial press, but that was only the 4th time this week, and we have 100 people ready to replace him, so why make a fuss?'. It won't change until vtubers unionize and collectively bargain/network for better average conditions. Which means it won't change, ever.

This isn't secret insider knowledge, it's a very basic take that anyone with decent professional business skill would be able to back up.
