And thats sort of the problem, its like any other mental issue. If someone is shunned for seeking help for something when they've done nothing wrong yet, but are worried they will, they are just gonna keep it bottled up until they do something stupid.

Problem is that implies there is a solution… if for example it’s a sexuality there isn’t. The “wrong” then is merely existing. If you can choose your sexuality then that’s a whole other can of worms society isn’t ready to deal with. To discuss it at all is thus radioactive. Best case is to not touch the issue at all as a public person
