Do we have any evidence this is actually real beyond a note saying he's shutting it all down due to being in the hospital? Call me paranoid, I just have trust issues. But again, fuck the guy for having health problems and being unable to keep the company going, amirite?
No hard evidence is presented but there are some arguments for it.Do we have any evidence this is actually real beyond a note saying he's shutting it all down due to being in the hospital? Call me paranoid, I just have trust issues.
Talents are going to raid his home to take his printer, microwave, and favourite lamp.Lol, this bitch was crying about how mean people are and shit, and then she goes in to talk all this shit. Just proves that she deserves all the shit she gets.
I understand people are drama whores, and that's all the reason they need, but it's kind of wild how this particular small corpo closing has brought all this anger from random fuckers. I haven't really seen any anger or vitriol coming from the actual talents this shit has affected, and yet all these unifiliated indies/small corpo people are just so pissy over this one. Unless they somehow know some horrible behind-the-scenes info we don't know, all these spergs are just bitching for the sake of being drama spergs.
But again, fuck the guy for having health problems and being unable to keep the company going, amirite?
Too long, didn't read boomer. I fully expect if the company I work for goes under, they need to automatically give me the heavy equipment I operate to do my current job for them. That's how the real world should work.

I'm getting really sick of all this cunts preaching something THAT THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN.
Fuck off, hypocrite.
I'm sorry I don't have a big comfy tech job and get to LARP as an anime girl on a whim, you cunt. How about you get off your soapbox and learn to drive before you kill yourself in another traffic accident?
It doesn't hold value though. Not in the way that a car or industrial equipment does. Realistically the value of the models/characters from a failed corpo is very low - remember that microcorp that did actually sell off their characters that people here talked about putting in an offer for? How much did they actually get for them? The corporation builds up a portfolio of intellectual property which holds value
Just as people don't plan for the divorce when they get married, people aren't thinking about what will happen if the company fails when they sign the contract. Even "grown up" businesses are often really bad at planning for bankruptcy and end up with ownership of parts of the business being a mess and contracts that were intended to ensure that party A got the thing they needed not working out that way. This is agreed upon, and if both parties willingly signed the contract, it can be assumed they were both on board with it.
Just look at the flesh idol industry, it's full of creeps and idiots who got lucky once, the people who have experience might have better contacts but they're often just as dumb as the people who do it as a hobby/creeping opportunity (which there are a lot of).I do wonder if the boom had not been so sudden maybe we would've had a slower burn on the industry's development, with agencies started by actual managers/back end professionals with some years of experience in the field
They're probably trying to set the precedent for if it happens to them. Lots of small corpos have been falling lately, and as someone said earlier, a number of them gave the models etc. to the talents for free. People would like that to be the norm. Obviously yelling on Twitter shouldn't be how you do that - really the talents should have a union like actors or musicians do, though that's a whole other rabbit hole. But just as a bankrupt corpo will look for any possible avenue to scrounge up some money, people who've signed a bad contract look for any leverage they can find.I haven't really seen any anger or vitriol coming from the actual talents this shit has affected, and yet all these unifiliated indies/small corpo people are just so pissy over this one. Unless they somehow know some horrible behind-the-scenes info we don't know, all these spergs are just bitching for the sake of being drama spergs.
honestly if the corpo failed they're probably not making it big as an indie either. Are there any cases where one of these post-small-corp talents that kept their IP has actually gotten to the point of being able to do it as a day job?
Short story time. Suiika, a vtuber rigger and artist, releases a high-quality vtuber model: well-rigged, easily customizable, all for about $115. She's spent a year working on this project to get everything right for release. You'd have to spend a lot more than that to get something of a similar level of quality elsewhere.

Example customizations:
As you can see, while there are some similarities - understandable since you're using a base template and modifying it - it's pretty easy to change skin colour, outfit style and colour, eye colour, add ear types, hair ornaments, and so forth. If you don't have a model and you just want to start streaming, it looks great and is a pretty good deal, is what I'm saying.
Now, let's get into how it all went wrong:
First, there were no "people of colour" hair styles. Suiika couldn't draw them to the standard she wanted, and she couldn't afford to commission hair styles, so didn't initially include them. That's worth hate mail and harrassing Suiika, apparently.

Next, people decided to give away her model files for free, and without crediting Suiika for her work.

Oh, and it was also apparently too expensive.

tl;dr fuck everyone involved in ruining what should have been a great moment for this woman. EDIT: Stopped being a yamanba and archived tweets and added links.
Update on Suiika's customizable model:
That's one heck of a payday at 4,000 purchases at $110 per purchase, even if you take out processing fees and the like. I'm glad she's been rewarded for her work on this. Given the level of success here, I wouldn't be surprised if other people follow suit.
