Who said anything about "activist right-wing viewers"?
I just assume that anyone who would have hopped on to watch/support her because she was saying things that are "based" is an activist viewer because they aren't watching her for her personality or her skills, they are only there because shes anti-trans
This is not support for Twisty, this is activism, she is just another face they can parade that the evil cancel culture destroyed (despite the fact her destruction is 96% self-inflicted by being retarded)
Once she would stop pandering, they move on because they don't enjoy Vtubers for what they are but just because its another arena to fight pointless culture wars.
I'm agreeing that trying to garner a "based"/right-wing/whatever audience would have likely not worked, but I have seen time and time again apologies not being accepted by opposite side, and instead just intensify them going after whoever apologized. I've only seen those that are sexually attractive to left/"woke"/whatever women get away with apologizing, with that still being uncommon, which Twisty certainly doesn't seem like at all.
I can see possibly not losing friends behind the scenes, but nothing more than that. Admittedly the people she angered by apologizing were never her audience, and most of the people she angered with the contents of her leaked call were also unlikely to be part of her audience. More people are talking about this situation than ever actually watched her in both directions.
I mean on one hand I saw plenty of people saying "this is why you never apologize" and that she lost all her Based privileges for bending the knee and apologizing, jeopardizing any support from that crowd before she even got any.
On the other hand I saw Bint (of all people) appealing to his audience to forgive and accept the apology.
It was never possible to appease everyone, and as you said, people in the Nijisanji audience who won't accept the apology probably already disliked her for her previous transgressions. So appeasing them was a lost cause anyways. Those who already went after her now have more ammo yeah, but apology or not, it wouldn't have changed something to those people. They didn't support her before, they will support her less after the leaks and will not continue to support her after the apology. So literally nothing changed.
They will continue to demand her to be terminated because she dared to be mean to pretty boy Aster. Others who are now tweeting about how problematic she is are also only doing it for could and brownie points, they were never part of audience before (The fact that she is pro-loli probably already scared a lot of them away).
This is about saving scraps and hoping that the few people still supporting her don't turn their back on her. And if that works even a bit, apologizing was the right move.
No matter how many people will tell me to never bend the knee to the mob, you are missing the intended audience of her apology. Ofc, she posted it on twitter, everyone from both sides will comment on it but it doesn't matter what Twitter rando @Cunny88

or @TransMan69

have to say about it. Why should babber from the sidelines influence how the situation is viewed? They are all tourists, all around.
If she still has connections, oilers and open and honest fans in a few weeks down the line or not will be the only relevant metric to judge if bending the knee to the mob was the right move or not.
