Well rooms shouldn't be an issue because there's like a dozen hotels all around that convention center. I believe there's a Hyatt right across the street from the convention center in downtown San Jose.

Fuck that part of downtown San Jose, that's near the university, do not hang around the streets unless you want to be accosted by homeless Mexicans and blacks, the former are the more aggressive imo. Don't eat downtown either, times and quality are bad. Take the light rail westbound out of the city for better food.

Iirc there's a lightrail stop right in front of the convention center. Not sure how bad the lightrail is for homeless/psychos nowadays, but it's better than walking. Also fellow commiefornian here. Let me out of this hellhole.
It only gets slightly unsafe on the light rail at night, but the light rail is still a trillion miles away in safety from BART. There's frequent enough security guards.

One of these days I'd like to see a study on what happened with fighting games. We went from the apex of Video Games Street Fighter 2 (which was essentially the Fortnite of it's time but was more successful in establishing an entire genre, where Fortnite exists only to provide more Fortnite) to now where most of the franchises are either dead or lame corpses of what they use to be.
