i'm really glad they took the nomansky route and are fixing the game maybe not making it perfect but definitely seeking needed improvement I'm also glad edgerunners exists because geezuz Cyberpunk and Mike Pondsmith really needed a W.

Maybe this will make Catalyst get off it's lazy ass and fix shadowrun or at least release the hopefully less broken new edition we know they have.

I'd bought Cyberpunk at launch and hadn't touched it purely based on how the police used to ask. That's the kind of system that would ruin my enjoyment of a game like this. I'm genuinely excited to try this game out for the first time, and got a bit I to the tutorial last night and I'm already having a good time.

>older games only affected if they update to the newest version of Unity
Alright, so no one is going to update and they'll just move their game to another engine while no one will ever want to make a game on your engine ever again. It's not like people aren't working on a tool to port any game made on Unity to another game engine at the moment. Holy fuck, what a disaster.

this whole saga reads like he hired one of those "monetization specialists" and just did everything they said.

A lot of people were speculating they tried to pull a known industry tactic in which they ask for something outrageous and then walk it back to their actual desired amount instead of asking for that from the beginning. But I think they got too ballsy and asked for too much.

The current CEO of Unity was the CEO of EA (2007-2013) and was eventually ousted for retarded decisions that caused 6 years of declines. When he became CEO, they had a market cap of $17 billion and he left them with a market cap of $5.6 billion. This definitely seems like something he came up himself.

Damn, I can't wait for him to go to another company. Then I'll tell my financial advisor to short them like there's no tomorrow :ironmousekek:

So Payday 3 kinda fucking sucks and is going through an absolutely awful launch right now. The game's online-only, with a shitty third party account needed to log in naturally, and the servers are just unstable as fuck even like 3 days later now. Massive amounts of the playerbase haven't been able to play consistently since launch and console players are especially fucked. You can't even play solo or private lobbies to escape it - you have to use the shitty matchmaking system to get into a game.
Matchmaking sucks too since it splits the playerbase so much. There's no quickplay or server browser of any sort, you just have to queue into a particular map at a particular difficulty and hope there's other players available. And hope that it doesn't hit you with an error.
Levelling up is extremely fucking annoying once you actually get into a game too. XP is tied to completing dumb challenges rather than something sensible like clearing the level or how much money you make it out with, so people are reporting finishing matches and earning 0 XP for it. You're gated both by personal level, which determines which equipment you can buy, and then you need to level up your gear specifically by using it if you want to customize it. Hope you weren't too accustomed to things like silencers in this steal heist game, because it's back to square 1 every time you want to try out a new gun.
For reasons unknown to mankind they've also removed critical core features like pre-heist planning or voice chat. So you can't really plan what you're doing. You know, in the bank robbing game that relies on each player independently achieving objectives and solving puzzles to progress. Want to stealth this map? Better hope little Timmy understands what a security camera is and doesn't think gunning down civilians is the height of gameplay. And vice-versa.
Currently "mostly negative" reviews on Steam with only 31% being positive. Oof. On what was a pretty highly anticipated sequel from a respected IP. This one might make it into a proper controversy and shit games list.

Not surprising chances are a lot of the game is contracted out since the studio can only do so much on their own servers being missing is a huge tip off since theres no reason for that but most "modern" shooter clones remove servers and quickplay for forced matchmaking.

Disappointing to be sure but probably already on a list for starbreeze to fix

remember how shit payday 2 originally was and with their migration to new tech they had to start from scratch instead to just importing stuff from 2.

not an excuse but it makes sense to me it would be this way at least they tend to listen to fans.

God damn, the first part of Shin Megami Tensei IV is hard as fuck. It gets easier after you recruit a few demons (and unlock easy mode), but fuck.

Payday 2 was just like that when it came out, except it wasn't always online, had about three times the content, had a bad-but-not-terrible server browser, and the progression was generally better. It took years to get pre-heist planning, the good aspects of the progression like perk decks, continental coins, and the one infamy rework that unfucked it.

Everything I've seen of Payday 3 seems boring as fuck to me. Average gameplay, the bare minimum of modern stealth and shooter features, only EIGHT FUCKING HEISTS. There's none of the shit that made Payday 2 fun, like experimenting with wacky builds and the giant arsenal of weapons and selection of heists you could play. Which, I mean, yeah, it's a new game, it's a fresh start, but you're basically throwing away ten years of content to slightly refine the gameplay firmly into the "nothing special"-tier, and botch the entire progression in the name of selling battlepasses and keeping people grinding. It's a waste, but I've been around Overkill long enough to have rock bottom expectations from them, and they still manage to disappoint.

The always online shit is just because they're terminally assmad over people using DLC unlockers for Payday 2 so they can play a $6 game without paying for $250 in DLC. Which is funny, because you can play Paygay 3 online with legit players with a pirated copy and a smidge of knowhow, plus some pirates are reverse engineering the servers for the game to make a self hosted/offline mode for the game.

Professional no save and Impossible (Dead Space) genuinely makes me want to jump out a three story window.:annoyedpippa: Especially Dead Space, because the game decided that an invisible instakill hitbox should end my run halfway through.:pikameepain:
I always knew something like that would happen, but why did it have to be on an Impossible run...

Yeah, I have seen people think that, too, but the original announcement was definitely their intention all along. Employees had been telling them for months that is was a horrible idea.

For anyone interested in reading further on this phenomena in marketing and business, here's the wiki on Anchoring. You tell them it's gonna cost them a million dollars or whatever, and then when they reduce it to 1k, you feel relieved and appreciative instead of keeping the same anger. In theory at least.

For anchoring to work, people have to remain on the platform though. It doesn't benefit their business if everyone just packs up and leaves, as most of them are including mihoyo (big one).
