If they were her real friends, they would already be aware of her private feelings, so the apology wouldn't be necessary. If they cared that much, she would have done better apologizing to them in private. Regardless, if they were real friends, they would stand by her regardless. Chances are, they aren't, they are just business acquaintances, so they will avoid associating with her, apology be damned. She would have gained that audience at the expense of most of the friends she made in her time as a VTuber.
All the more reason why she shouldn't have bothered to apologize. Its not going to save her; it will only damn her further at this point. There's no point apologizing for a private conversation that was leaked maliciously. It was always going to come across as disingenuous, and there's nobody to apologize TO because she didn't wrong anyone personally, just expressed her personal feelings. Its a failed strategy that time has shown does not work. She is fucked either way and knew it
It is bending the knee. It isn't a real apology and doesn't come across as such. She's apologizing to try to save her career, not because she's sorry about what she said. The idea that she didn't mean what she said or what she said doesn't reflect who she is (even though the recording isn't even a year old) was never going to come across as believable.I really hate how just apologizing is being called "bending the knee."
As for this newest reveal, well, I think this about sums it up:
The only person I feel bad about is Scarle. She don't deserve all this.
