An example of why just denying the accusations doesn't work is Kotoka, when Mel got terminated a rrat was made that she had told the information to Kotoka, only because she was one of the last Vtubers she collabed with. Either the rrat got too big or Kotoka couldn't ignore it anymore and she posted this tweet.

The result is that as Superduper says it got streisan'd and a baseless rrat ended up earning more attention than it should have. I think we even talked about it here in the forum saying she should have ignored it instead of denying it. Yeah, I remember her more or less shitting on Nijisanji in the collab where they explain that Pomu's 3D wasn't fixed in time for Kiara's birthday, but never any specifics about why collabs were blocked.

You know, before February happened, a part of me felt a bit bad for Vox.

It's difficult for male streamers on any platform (let alone V-Tubers) to actually make it big and you tend to have to either be A) an unwashed sperg with turbo autism (Asmongold) or an unlikable asshole that barely speaks English properly and gambles thousands of dollars over the course of a stream (XQC). Not hard or fast rules, but outrage and autism do draw in views. But Vox was different. He had charm, charisma, and was (generally speaking) someone who seemed like he could collab with just about anyone. The appeal/pandering to fujo's was (to me at least) a sacrifice that had to be made in order to stand out from the crowd and mark his own niche in the industry. A necessary sacrifice to maintain his popularity and remain relevant.

It has now been two months since Selen Gate and my pity has turned to angry...and has recently turned to amusement. This man (and I use that word loosely) has managed to stain his entire career in the West because he simply can't face the allegations that are being directly or indirectly thrown at him. Instead of trying to address them, he gives them cutesy nicknames that may or may not allude to them ('Horrible Things'), just dips out and streams on Bilibili, or releases an ugly fanservice model to draw in more brain-dead femoid fans. And he is still making a fairly decent amount of money; more than most streamers will ever make, in fact.

And that's probably all he's ever going to be known for now. Sure, he may get some collabs with Indies that are as morally bankrupt as he is, and he will get the occasional collab with other corpos. But in the end, the main source of income and notoriety is going to come from the unmarried, mentally ill women of China. The group that has caused him the most 'mental distress' he has experienced (even though he had no problem taking their money) is now going to be his main source of income as a streamer and he will be forced to dance to their will.

I can't tell if this is a comedy or a tragedy at this point. But hey, why not both.

Well there's the problem, the only discord I'm in is the Phase Discord for clipping purposes. I've also not been able to watch too many streams since like early March to mid April because of work (hence there only being like 5 or 6 clips on my channel in that time period).

I envy you. I have managed to fill two accounts with Discord servers (non-Nitro, one server shared between the two)

I kind of recall that Billibilli comment during her reincarnation but it was likely forgotten because everyone focused on "oh wow, an ex-niji that's not going to Twitch, hurray!". I knew about those collabs but I never got to watch most of them as the last Doki stream I watched in full was the Supermarket Simulator stream as it was early March. The whole clipping thing kinda prevents me from watching non-Phase streams altogether whenever I'm busy.

Short-term, reasonable non-competes are a necessary evil since the last thing a corpo wants is to invest a bunch of resources into promoting a talent for them to bounce after a few months taking their newfound training and audience with them, since that prevents the corpo from getting a return on their investment. It's not a perfect system by any means - I don't like that a potentially crooked corpo has the means to control a talent's career post-graduation, and I think relieving them of the non-compete clause would be a show of good faith - but the arrangement exists for a reason.

It's very easy to empathise solely with the talents in these arrangements since we've seen so many being mistreated by corrupt corpos recently, but at the same time I feel honest, reputable corpos should have the means to protect their rights too.
