Because like many people she probably just puts it off like most things. This is why having a partner helps with longevity as it's always easier to force someone to do what's healthy than to do it yourself, and if it's healthy situation each person improves fixes the other.

But seriously, the amount of stories where someone is saved by their partner forcing them to care about something they ignored, or catching them just in time when that thing explodes because it's never mentioned, is amazingly high. Part of it is probably that people are highly adaptable so when they experience it, it doesn't feel so drastic as an outside perspective might view it. It's like being drunk, you might think you're fine, until you stumble and fall into a bush.
