"I see. Well, thank you for your time." Mr. Humphreys stood to leave, collecting his suit coat from the back of the chair. "Forgive me my curiosity, though - why did you call me for an interview if you knew you had no intention of hiring me?" The man who'd introduced himself as Node didn't look up from his notebook, continuing to scribble notes. "We simply wanted to see what sort of person you were, Grant. Call it... professional curiosity" he responded after a pause. "You'll of course be hearing from the District Attorney soon." Grant stood for a moment, frowning. But a wry smile soon followed. "No," he said. "I don't think I will."
Windows shattered more than four blocks away. The local news that night reported that the explosion had been the result of a gas leak, and nothing more.
