The GE (and mechanics like it) immediately warp the community and culture around them, creating the atomised and asocial experience people now complain about. Same as the WoW classic stuff with raid finder and so on. If you want an MMO to actually be social, you have to actually force it, and the GE is the biggest barrier to actually recreating the old Runescape experience.

I like it that way, trying to track down and find people to buy stuff and by the time they reply its oh its already sold etc was annoying. I think the site when osrs came out to post things on was zybez? annoying. The osrs community is autistic enough as is and I'm happy i don't have to interact with them much
