Pippa is right, being scared of gore is rather new and there are benefits to not being sensitive to it as it can help in high pressure situations such as helping someone with a serious injury.

Just make it smooth. Better to sand it and apply a wood sealer or finish, as long as you can prevent moisture from getting in.

Nah man. I got my EMT license, but never took the job because the burnout is short. You can only see so many car accidents and dead bodies IRL before it takes a toll. There's a difference in giving first aid or performing a surgery, than seeing an actual corpse that died violently.

Seeing it online isn't as big of a deal, but interacting with it directly would be. Though I've known people who had parts mangled in industrial settings and it was a big deal having people there who wouldn't freak out when it happened as it allowed them to actually help while the medics arrived.
