I'm honestly not a fan of the design in general, it's pretty well done especially the face rigging but it just feels "too busy" to me and maybe I'm just too attached to the Lottie design which grabbed me the moment I first saw it that I have trouble not thinking about what we lost while hearing this voice plus so many of the Lottie-isms were carried over that it's not helping my nostalgia. I think also that I might be that I didn't have this issue with Kanna because Erika had been gone for several months already when in this situation it's only been a couple weeks. In small and well-behaved communities it's a good gimmick but the pay4attention gimmick gotta go. In the same line, superchats who prop on the screen are equally as disruptive.
For example, you can set up the TTS/redeem to only show after you press a button on your streamlink, the queue system is rather simple to implement:

I started skimming some of the older streamers I used to watch before I fell into this hole when everyone was mia for Fes. One had xqc's computer equipment rant or whatever and it was played like every other minute. To the point he doubled the price the next day then I think entirely removed it a day or two later. Tried another guy and it's that TTS shit where it reads emojis for like 4 whole ass minutes or is just some long dumbass string of numbers.

I'm going to add that, apart from being good at interacting and making jokes with chat, which other people already brought up, Zen is also a very good "Pilot" of VTuber models and especially 3D models. As in, Zen is very good at emoting and otherwise "acting" with the 3D model which makes it pleasant to watch the streams and in some way makes up for the sometimes scrappy TTS.
Just look at the dancing clip that's been making the rounds recently. Yes, I assume the big tits help in keeping people's eyes glued to the screen, but the rest of the performance is also very entertaining.

It's actual unironic zoomer brainrot; their dopamine receptors are fried to the point that they need constant stimulation otherwise they lose interest. The idea of spending a few minutes listening to someone talk about an interest or show off a level in a video game is unfathomable to them, which is a big part of why more of them are spending their time watching TikTok and YouTube Shorts than traditional YouTube videos, and livestreams targeting younger people have had to adapt accordingly. The funny noise -> TTS -> streamer response cycle moves quickly enough to keep them engaged.
