The last time she posted photos of herself before this week was in November, before her health seriously deteriorated. During her sick period, her mental was at its lowest, she lost a ton of weight and said she looked terrible. Now that she's healthy, she might be doing this as a way to bounce back and feel better about herself.

I do think there is a lot going on here that hololive is getting over contributed for.
1. Video play/streaming services itself are usually unprofitable. At least youtube was in 2014, reportedly they were barely making even in 2014 with a 4 billion dollars in revenue
Susan's effort at neutering the site works however. She joined youtube when they were making 3.1 billion a year, and left in 2023 as the plaform made 29 billion dollars in revenue. You will never see another filthy frank, but that direction bloomed youtube income
- Twitch is unprofitable. Never had been.
- you usually want to branch out using other industry/services to make money.
2. "foreign language anime fan community"
I can assure you this has way less impact than you think because foreigners can't pay bilibili money or ever looked into doing it. Regardless of anime or not. The UI is too confusing to use, mainly in chinese and bilibili made 0 effort to globalize.
3. Bilibili has the right idea of acquiring anime streaming rights but utterly failed at preventing piracy. Heck the platform itself is a host for piracy. Their viewers dont even need to go to other sites to find their licensed anime for free. Lulw.
4. The platform built itself upon piracy and fake viewer numbers. That kinda model only works if you are working with shady/illegal sponsorship like gambling.
At the very least they needed to show actual viewership than "impressions" to attract advertisements.
5. Vtubing is very very small in the internet world.
Tl;dr bilibili does make money because they are shady and incompetent. I would love to credit hololive for it but their impact isn't as big as you think.
Care to explain why you think westernizing is bad? What killed nijiEN was sticking to Japanese corporate values and force it onto a western expansion.
Cover corp itself is already very westernized in my opinion, at least in their working attitude, employment and most of all yagoo's mindset. Kaigai makes for a big portion of cover corp workforce.

The only reason that Biboo wasn't a complete nobody before she joined Hololive is because the first time she applied (as a complete nobody) she was told that she needed experience as a content creator, so she became an indie vtuber specifically to get experience so she would get accepted when she applied again, which she did.
Aloe isn't interested, Rushia is extra-strength menhera, and it's probably still to early to tell with Mel.

This was way gayer than I expected. If you have to start something with saying "please don't talk about it outside of the stream" then don't fucking talk about it. You don't even have to be a unicorn to dislike male vtubers on principle, let alone them trying to interact with female. There are maybe exceptions in single digits to the rule, but overwhelmingly they are all as terrible compared to female vtubers, as female fleshstreamers are to male. And there is a non-insignificant portion of fans who don't like collabs in general, regardless with whom. If they get to you enough that you have to vent about it on a membership stream - they won. They know they bother you, they will only get worse
