I'm agreeing that trying to garner a "based"/right-wing/whatever audience would have likely not worked, but I have seen time and time again apologies not being accepted by opposite side, and instead just intensify them going after whoever apologized. I've only seen those that are sexually attractive to left/"woke"/whatever women get away with apologizing, with that still being uncommon, which Twisty certainly doesn't seem like at all.

I can see possibly not losing friends behind the scenes, but nothing more than that. Admittedly the people she angered by apologizing were never her audience, and most of the people she angered with the contents of her leaked call were also unlikely to be part of her audience. More people are talking about this situation than ever actually watched her in both directions.

This is my take on it. Yes, a "based" audience will be fickle and not worth chasing if you aren't willing to keep up the act full-time, but this disingenuous apology is also going to do nothing to appease the other side, so what was the point?

Not-Twisty, as a member of Nijisanji, the second-most prominent agency in the EN space by most measurements, made racist and queerphobic comments on a call with Literally Who Male Indie #3,834 and Literally Who Female Indie #638,829 (no offense to them or their fans but my point is they are not on the same level of prominence, renown, connection, etc. as even a newer and smaller Niji like Twisty). She then made an apology stating that those comments do not reflect her actual feelings.

If her statements on that call were genuine, then the statements in her apology were not genuine and were made to attempt to save what's left of her career. Logical, at least superficially.

So what? Maybe some will stick around anyway, and you might be able to make a little money off the rest while they're still around. Be Shrodinger's Based Vtuber. Pippa more or less built her career on that, at least initially.

So I still think, even if it were genuine, making the apology was the wrong step here. I don't know, maybe I'd have a different perspective if I were in her situation. But I have no idea how I'd end up getting myself in her situation in the first place.

There was a rrat that Twisty was subtweeting (as in, not mentioning or retweeting directly) her outfit announcement with something like "Feels bad when people get to celebrate things when you took that opportunity from me".
Neither the connection between Twisty's tweet and the announcement, nor this tweet and Twisty's leaked audio are concrete though. But it's just another thing that adds to the mess.

I think the outfit was originally leaked in 4chan, so I would assume it would be one of the known users of the site like those two.
