Yall weak. you don't get to complain till you wait 8 years for a promised heavy update that never comes.
I'm honestly salty over the fact that Diablo 3 gets seasonal resets with new cosmetics(no actual balance changes seemingly) to this day, while what we just heard strongly implies that GGG might not even commit to that for Path of Exile.

Imagine being outlasted by Diablo 3.
Fucking embarassing, really.

Especially since I feel like a lot of PoE's success to begin with is off the back of the original release of D3 being such a garbage fire, now the title is languishing on the edge of dying off while D3 continues getting actual support.

Frankly though, and unrelated to this really, I just love this new era of major suffering for video game companies. I've been sick of their shit for close to a decade now and calling for another industry crash and if there's one thing that I can give unequivocal congratulations to the genderspecials for, it's being so uniformly unpalatable and averse to success that their pollution of the industry is caustic to it's foundations and causing extensive damage to all these businesses that want to pander to the woke mob in their spiritless lip-service to supporting them.

Forgot to post it here, but looks like Rising Storm ('8)3 isn't fucking dead, cause some of the original devs managed to buy back the rights after going bankrupt twice and are hoping to have something out in EA by the end of the year.

The announcement also comes with a schizo meltdown by prominent tactikek youtuber BlueDrake42, included free of charge. (It's a good meltdown, well worth reading the thread.

Part of me is relieved that this staff drain means ME5 won't happen. Part of me fears it will, and it will be even worse than anything that could've been predicted.

I have sympathy for people stuck in jobs with the DEI crap, but I'll never have any sympathy for leadership types that could have saved the game with 1 meeting and pointing out that they've written a really shitty game. And it should have been noticeable in the scripts 5 years ago.

The single cheapest thing to solve in a large game is the writing. Two editors and ChatGPT could bang something out in a weekend that was better. They had YEARs. YEARS. Also, the technical state was fine. The combat designers weren't good and since those guys are expensive, they probably overpaid incompetent "art" staff rather than pay what was necessary for the important bits: the gameplay team.

Unrestrained pedos. They were always there but they'd get punished for existing.

The severe problem with Bluesky is it is post-2015 Twitter. Pre-2015 Twitter was better. Somewhere around that point, the Pedo Defense Squad was formed at the upper levels. It normally didn't crop up a lot in the English-side, but basically it swarmed the rest of the site in other languages. It was clear they had nothing looking at moderation. Back when anti-human trafficking had some popular support on the Left in the States, it was brought up that there was openly operating slave markets on Twitter, based in the Middle East. Plus the open sharing of illegal content in threads that existed for years. Reporting this stuff would always get you banned from the platform.

It has to be remembered that Twitter went to US Federal Court to keep a rape video of a minor up on the platform. This is a thing that happened.

Also, the site has been >50% bots since around that time as well. Twitter clearly knew that bots kept their active users super high, and they simply made the choice to keep only a minor lid on the situation rather than really try to deal with it. It was too important to keep the stock price up. Please ignore that they were worth half of what Elon & Co paid for it and were cooking their books badly.

Spider-Man 2 isn't doing so hot.

Meanwhile the Spider-Man 1 release did triple those numbers

Keep in mind, the Insomniac leak revealed it cost them $39 million to remaster Spider-Man 1 (read as: port to PC) and they only pulled in revenue of $50 million for a profit of $11 million while only 1.3 million of the 4 million unit sales were from PC. Spider-Man 2's numbers should improve going into the weekend but that's still REALLY bad. There's a good chance the Spider-Man 2 skin for Marvel Rivals that released concurrently might be more profitable because the skin bundle is like $12 while the skin's development budget was way less than 1/5th of Spider-Man 2's budget for the PC port.

CCP is a weird metric but I understand why you use it. When one player starts, another goes to bed, many more when you consider timezones.
I think these ports had a reasonable profit margin for sure, but Sony execs and other assholes want every project to earn like Fortnite and that's just not feasable.

Oh I understand your concern regarding CCP but it definitely fits when comparing it to the previous game, especially when we know how much the previous game made in revenue and profit after the Insomniac leak.

Twitter is a lot better than Bluesky, if only because important news is posted on there first and, more relevant to us, most vtubers post on there too. No-one relevant is posting on Bluesky.

Yeah, what's funny is that Miles Morales still managed to rack up $156 million in development costs. Meanwhile their estimations were that Spider-Man 3 would cost $385 million while Spider-Man 2 cost $315 million, which really shows how out of control that shit is getting.

We've known for a long time that Sony's entire gameplan was to accept the losses on those exclusive games as they were loss leaders to bring people to their console, so they buy all their normiecore MTX (Call of Duty, Fortnite, etc) while on the platform and Sony gets a huge cut from that. However they released this shit to PC, ruining their exclusivity draw, which is strange considering the recent PSN announcement. Sony stated that the PSN+ service won't be guaranteeing PS4 games in the monthly bonuses anymore, only PS5 games. They're definitely trying to force their ~50% of PSN users still using PS4 to jump to PS5 but they just rushed an exclusive out of the door to PC. This is also happening right as a third-party exclusive releases to PC (Rebirth). This shit doesn't make sense.

Sony only bought some of their games to PC because they took serious losses on them underperforming and not bringing in the expected audiences they were meant to, and needed to recoup some of that money back, and that happened because Sony decided to hire people that didn't give a shit about video games to make their games and run their gaming divisions.
