I know you guys are worried about The Witcher 4. Hopefully this helps ease your concerns.
Time for CD Projekt Red to destroy their own beloved franchise like the other mainstream companies. It must be a rite of passage at this point to create a sequel that burns it's legacy and actively shits on the previous male protagonist.
The first three games dealt with sexism just fine. What the hell do they think they can add? A cringey "End the Patriarchy!" side quest that nobody outside of HR people would like?
"An "End the Patriachy" sidequest? Hire this man immediately!" - CD Projekt Red, probably.
Haven't like most of the people involved with the trilogy left now? I know a bunch of them left during the development and right after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. I never played any of the Witcher games, so I can't really complain but I have the trilogy just sitting in my steam library. One of these days I'll play through them so I can feel outrage over this game too.

Yeah, which everyone says got worse & worse as well. Though didn't the Witcher 3 basically telegraph Ciri was the next protagonist? It's been a while.
That said, like most things, the surface level response is what people are latching onto because they can't quite process the deeper problems. They showed a CG video of Ciri being a Witcher. Which she isn't and it would break the established rules of the fiction? Ciri has ancient magic, but they had to make her a Witcher. It's just the deeper aspects of the "modern thought", which is simply glossed-over Envy. No one has any worth and you only have worth if you take someone else's.
It's probably worth mentioning, in the entire discussion about the modern stupidity in the gaming industry, that the entire genre of Media is built completely off the pattern recognition skills of the players that buy the products. And then you have all of the industry executives that can't understand that players noticed the "Signs of Garbage".
It was the Good End of Witcher 3, if you have a problem with the idea you're a few years late to the party.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that ending only showed that Ciri became a Witcher by trade (being a monsterslayer). However, she didn't take the Trial of the Grasses by that point which is what would break the lore.

Love watching you guys doom over the state of CD Projekt and the Witcher, meanwhile I as a Valve fan am eating good, having just gotten actual genuinely good, respectful closure on my all-time favorite longstanding legacy IP that has reverence towards the past and is respectful and thankful for the reader, with no shoehorned modern political bullshit, giving me even more reason to have faith in HLX (though I already had faith in it, because Half-Life Alyx was good too). Valve yet again still proves itself to be the best AAA developers, and it's because they are still privately owned.

Reading the Witcher books retroactively killed my enjoyment of the Witcher games since I saw how much of the game writing was just taking pre-existing storylines, changing bad guys and settings, and presenting it in the game. After that my reaction was "Oh no, how is Cyberpunk going to turn out when they don't have well written characters and storylines to pull from?" A by the numbers, predictable story with shallow characters, oh boy! Completely aside from the technical issues that their games have and the shift from fun euro-jank to normal "AAA" drek, their ability to write strong original content has been always been minimal and they've learned all of the wrong lessons over the last two decades.
Pour one out for Sapkowski because the man's writing is so vibrant, even in translation.

I find it hilarious that you guys are basically grasping at minor details to already write the game off.
Sure you could be right probably are and? better stories have had worse lore breaks .
Story has never been CD Reds strong point anyway all that matters is does it feel good to play.
At worst we will get another Witcher 3 which was still fun to play the side stories will be the best part of it again.
unless they gigabotch something or chase "mass appeal" game will be fine who cares if ciri is the protag both her and geralt are planks of wood.
be me Hype TF2 instead.

Cyberpunk was the only one that felt good to play but that was because they copied everything from everyone else for the gameplay for Cyberpunk.
I hate that nobody else has decided to copy them and give every gun multiple draw, stow and reload and hipfire recoil animations each.
