95% of the time these types of things are called in by someone that has an advantage to gain in PR for the group being attacked. On the rare occasion it's a troll.

I honestly haven't heard of an actual "threat" being called in and being real since 9/11. Mostly because actually planting a device is going to have you on camera.

So aside from Resident Evil I also got the Dead Space Remake. Pretty good time, though not as scary as I was expecting. Well, except for this shit:

Honestly, I'm still not sure why this game exists.

Dead Space 1/2 (and FEAR) are easily the best aged games from that generation, and nothing in the remake looked like they made it better. They just sort of changed some aspects to how it progressed and played from the streams I caught of it. I would have to play it myself but if anything the impact the weapons have seemed lessoned.

The audio all around is infinitely worse in the Dead Space remake compared to the original. The necromorhps sound like goblins, the guns are all pathetic sounding other than the contact beam, the VA work is atrocious for everyone but Isaac. Other problems are the kinda retarded character and story changes, the modern graphics ruining some of the areas of the ship like the engineering deck, them redoing most of the bossfights but making them just as bad as the originals, and the scariest part of the game being the PC port which EA has just chosen not to fix.

But, again, it sold, people loved it, and keep saying how it's the best remake of a horror game since REmake, so expect Dead Space 2 to get similarly "improved".

From what I understand, Dead Space 2 was one of the most expensive games ever made. I know the framework is still there but I would imagine that it would be hit even harder with that list of nerfs.

But yeah I can see people playing it and not noticing because I guess unless its a Nintendo game, anything made for Sony and Microsoft platforms don't get played after a 3 year period (excruciatingly true for the modern God of War and Gears...LOL.., I mean God of War fanbase).

But if EA can get away with, they will. After all they get away with everything. I mean just looking at how they handle other remasters/remakes and ports... they are budget projects. There is no Nightdive or M2 quality port. Hell the Mass Effect compilation for modern platforms really just worked on remastering 1 of the games while cutting out half of 3 (granted that isn't unique, from what I understand the Uncharted compilations cut out the MP portions). They are just banking on newbies that would rather play something that came out in 2023 and not 2008.

I know people complain about the constant remakes, but you know what? I'm part of the problem. I love (good) remakes. Getting to replay some of my old favorites with upgraded graphics and controls? Inject that shit straight into my veins, homie. I'm hyped as fuck about the Super Mario RPG, Tomba!, Snake Eater, and Thousand Year Door remakes.

Honestly I just want Dead Space to have an actual conclusion so if they gotta remake 2 and 3 to do so, then I say do it.

There's something to be said for modern ergonomics. Hand specialists will make bank in another 15 years when all of the Gen Xs are having to get repairs from too long on the bad console controllers are kids.

The other thing is that any of the pre-2010 LCD HD era games are always prime fodder for remakes. Unless you played them in-era, they tend to look pretty bad because they were designed for a very different display medium and sometimes it really shows. The "I don't remember it looking this bad" is because it didn't. CRT's blending did wonders for graphics.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few emulators have a "CRT filter" you can turn on to reproduce that effect. It's amazing how effective they were with utilizing the CRT to improve the look of stuff.

Completely different graphics pipeline. They didn't have to worry about aliasing, so they had a completely different workflow and design approach because the CRT would blend the lines for them. Along with some interesting approaches using image persistence. It's part of the reason Pixel Art sticks around. Making it high res with more rounded edges makes it very inviting as an art style. When we first moved over to LCDs, NES and SNES games looked horrible.

Realistically, the NES and SNES always looked best with the top of the line, mid-2000s CRTs. Clean and amazingly smooth. It took LCDs nearly 20 years to get back to the smoothness that some random 20 inch CRT you bought for you kid could provide. One of the actual, notable times technology when backwards for a long time. Though the reasons were pretty straight forward. You can ship 5x as many LCDs as CRTs and they got much, much bigger.

This is my go to image whenever I try to explain how different games can look on a CRT.

I was meant to respond to this sooner, but those 12 hour naps are too good.

Does it need to exist? No, because as you said, the OG trilogy has aged fine. I played through DS 2 a few months ago and it was still as good as ever. The sound design does kinda blow ass, and it's instantly noticeable once you hear the plasma cutter, which sounds like a bitch made variant of the original. That being said, I do prefer the remake because of the improvements made to it. I never did like the OG zero g sections. Also kinesis is just like the sequels, which is especially nice on NG+ since the niggamorphs are around and refuse to die. Honestly, as long as the gameplay has improved, which I say it has, then I can look over some of the steps backwards in terms of audio and visual shit. Plus it's Dead Space, and I'm just glad to see it not end on the sour note that is DS 3.
Also yeah the bosses still suck lol Hivemind is just strafing from side to side until it reveals it's weakpoint.:BijouBijou:

Also I prefer the look of OG Isaac.:BijouBijou:

That mod and others can be found here.

The thing is the mod isn't really even necessary because next to no dialog actually uses pronouns. Supposedly the stuff that does references your "body type" as a variable anyway, rendering the whole thing pointless. This is all just Streisand Effect.

It's my install; I'll mod it however I like. Fuck you.

Yeah, everything I've seen about the pronoun bullshit in Starfield is that it's just minimal pandering as a smokescreen. When someone came out and mentioned how bad the game is, retards fixated on the part about him complaining about pronouns and ignored all of his other reasonable complaints about the game.

Gaming companies have started to learn from tv/film industry and have been implementing fag shit for the sole purpose of baiting complaints about it so they can dismiss all criticism as "transphobes just looking to complain". Did anyone actually expect BGS to actually meticulously implement dialogue for numerous pronouns?

Hilarious that South Park puts more effort coding a parody of inclusiveness and tokenism than all the other companies that posture for diversity.
