...what was the last video game remake that both:

A: worked on modern PCs

B: didn't cut out a bunch of interesting stuff for the sake of a more "modern" experience?

This is a legitimate question btw, I'm trying to think of one and actually can't... :dokiDread:
System Shock, Nier Replicant and Legacy of Kain from the top of my head. People complained about the updated "art direction" on Kain but you can still play with retro graphics, so nothing is lost.

Wasn't LOK a remaster, technically?
I think so, it's the same jank with a fresh coat of paint.
But its the first time the game was playable on PC without emulation so there's that.
For strictely remakes I think DQ3HD does a great job but you'll have to cope with the changes in vocabulary, like Type A/B body and other small stuff.

Well, the question was "what was the last one?", and the ones posted are more recent than the one that popped into my head, but I'm just going to say it anyway:

Aside from the new music clashing with my nostalgia, I liked the Spyro remakes and can't remember any issues I had with them when playing on the Steam Deck.

Could nature be healing?

Unlikely. We'll only know if there's any healing at Sony if they basically close Playstation in CA and rebuild it back in Japan.

I know, but when MG Survive was coming out, most of MGS discourse online was their retarded fans screeching and parroting their videos at people who are trying to talk about something else.
People acting like Survive shot their dog were the most annoying posts about MGS i had seen in a while
MGSV was a worse insult to the series
But its like sperging about MG Acid or some shit

The worst part about it is the fact that something like 90% of the old MGS developers still worked on and made Survive, Kojima took very few people with him to KojiPro. But they're all shithead scumbags who ruined Kojima's vision, even though Survive is made off of a concept for a game about Gray Fox fighting nanomachine zombies that Kojima himself wanted to do. The game wasn't groundbreaking and it had issues, but unlike MGSV it had a beginning, middle and end, and the gameplay of it was genuinely fun after you make it out of the tutorial and get some upgrades, which none of the people reviewing it did.

I tried giving it a fair shake and i didnt like it that much, but i did find it deeper than most of the people playing it on yt, using V's pretty great TPS aiming for the spear was pretty cool
Maybe ill give it a replay on a rainy day, it scratches the same itch Nazi Zombies did back in the day

i suspect it's mostly the timing rather then anything. I still hate survive to be clear but the timing of it's announcement fresh off Konami being retarded will always taint the actual game.

I despise this game but somehow I can't stop coming back for events... re-learning how to actually aim guns all over again for the 27th time was so much fun. Soooo many easy kills missed.

Only eight more to go... :dokiDread:

We are at the point where another "Cities Skylines" situation can happen in the gaming industry:

A rogue studio with/without publisher backing could make a successor to Civ IV with modern tech - Old World seems to fill the void more than fine for enthusiasts, and Mandalore/Hooded Horse is publishing Endless Legend 2, Age of Wonders 4 is the only good Paradox game in recent memory (while their closer Civ clone Millenium fell to the wayside), so we may see a cultural shift to one of the above paving the way toward the future.

Heaven forbid Firaxis meet the competition head-on, and excel where they have otherwise failed time and time again. Even XCOM is dead in the water, no news on XCOM 3, but Xenonauts seems to be eating its lunch just fine. If they don't get their act together, it's entirely possible Firaxis could be shuttered within the next decade.

I liked XCOM Enemy Unknown/Within. XCOM 2 was not what I wanted, the whole guerilla warfare aspect was not enjoyable. I also did not care for "Oh its a sequel to XCOM, except you lost at the tutorial and most of the first game was VR by aliens fucking your brain sideways."
