Playing FFX/X-2 for the first time, whoever added swimming to this game deserves a thousand lashes.
It's pretty enjoyable though, I'm not crazy about the sphere grid shit but I'm warming up to it. I haven't played any of the PS2 titles so I have a lot of catching up to do.
Their RTS department is still alright, the Age of Mythology remake is fun. But you could put out the second coming of Starcraft and C&C combined, and that shit would shift 11 copies total because it's an RTS.
Does anyone else feel like Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft have reached the point where it would be better to focus on games rather than consoles? Aside from the Switch 2, I can't imagine that the next gen consoles will be that much better than the current gen.

Even with Nintendo I have no real desire to buy their next handheld. I'd rather just wait a couple years until there's a good emulator and I can play it on one of the handheld PCs instead. Since I got my Steamdeck I've pretty much stopped playing Switch games on the Switch and play them all on it instead.

Who said anything about PC gaming? They can keep playing on the PS6 and Xbox Cum or whatever the next gen is called. I'm just saying that until there's a big advancement in technology, there's no real point in putting out a new gen of consoles every couple of years.

I can barely tell the difference between 1080p and 4K, and that's only at very close range. I can only process so much objects on-screen at once, and a rough 60fps is perfectly fine for most of my games, and if a game really wants a steady 60fps, I think this is easily achievable. In terms of technical ability, the PS5 is perfectly fine. Oh, and I'd like some more actually decent exclusive games for the PS5. I'd be happy to stay on the PS5 for a long while yet.

Console generations after the PS2 greatly inflated expected development costs, due to higher expectations of graphical quality, which crowded out a lot of mid-tier developers that were between AAA and indie gaming. I miss A and AA gaming, I thought it was a good balance of the interesting ideas that the best indie games have, but the graphical quality towards what you'd expect from higher-end gaming. I wouldn't mind if we'd stuck to the PS2 era.
Outside of Nintendo which tends to at least add one weird feature and generally does improve on what already exists switch 2 being a massive improvement in several areas not just specs like the improved stand and port (along with the controller as a mouse gimmick).
Hell in playstations case its better to buy a ps2 or even 3 because 4 and 5 have no games.
Xbox despite having middle child/late to the party syndrome at least only has one major fuckup to their brand (the Kinect)
or just buy a PC/steamdeck and hope the ports don't suck ass for the next 2-3 console generations.
If you're not up with the news, the US Government has been funding all sorts of leftist projects with USAID, including funding journalists and news sources like Politico for favourable coverage of events.
Absolutely wild that years, if not over a decade of anti-gamergate rhetoric was funded by the US Government.

Unless PC games magically become DRM free I would never consider the PC platform an ideal switch to for what would essentially be a monopoly. You are gonna see Windows 10 killed off and there are already enough XP and 7 games that don't work who don't have autistic Russians caring about them to get them to work offline or on modern windows.
Not a problem with my vintage PC game library, and also a problem that affects numerous Xbox and PS5 games (for when those servers go down). But it's a rampant issue on PC
