Actually, amusingly, this reminds me of playing The Oregon Trail at school. There were multiple versions there, on the various types of computers they had. Most were monochrome, but on the super computer they had in the library they had this amazing full color version.

It was like going from a silent film in the 1910s to some gorgeously shot film in the 1970s.
