The north route to SLC then take the south route to get to Denver. You don't want to go the Wyoming route unless you have to. Comes out on Google to roughly 1300 miles. If you can maintain 72 mph average over the duration, that's 18 hours. It is absolutely doable in a day if you really need to, but a day to SLC then another 7 hours to Denver.
With really accurate information on road works these days, you can also see if you can avoid any major construction underway. That's the big hang ups.
That said, a flight & a car rental are going to be cheaper in most cases.
