While the project clearly started off on a bad foot because of terrible communication, the PC Building is a catastrophic idiot and I'm pretty sure they were using ChatGPT to make themselves sound smarter. I can see doing the quick pre-production sketch-up if it ended up being in a hurry, but, after that, they should have done nothing else without a contract. That's wholly on them.
Also, this wasn't a custom copper installation. It was an off the shelf AIO setup. At most, it was 3 days of work, lol.

Timeline
Feb 20: Doki made an open invitation for artists to join her auction on twitter
Between Feb 20- Feb 27: Celeste send a DM to Doki's team, asking to join
Feb 27, 16:41: Manager 1 accepted the artist, and asked for a sketch to put on the auction that's going to happen on March 3rd.
Feb 28, 17:41: Artist gave out the sketch
(This is what the artist charged $5000 pound in cancellation fees for, a sketch made in a day)
Feb 28 -> March 3: Manager 1 got ghosted for a revision to the sketch and what the actual pricing be. Manager 1 being a genius manager pick an arbitrarily numbers of 3,500 and confirmed "Doki will pay whatever you are going to charge" and edited the sketch themselves with photoshop.
March -> June: Some minimal back and forth and artist went to rehab. Never agreed on a pricing.
June 2024 -> Dec 2024: Doki's mom and Doki fought legally for her company, noone answered the artist.
Jan 2025 -> Feb: Doki contacted artist for a new contract with her new company, but couldn't agree on pricing
The artist charged 120 hours, $5000 for the fucking sketch that she did under 25 hours (which honestly I think she whipped up in 3 hours at most) and the discord chats.... and whatever the fuck "administrative tasks" means.

Did this document include the bit about time lapse for all of the weeks of work they put in? Because they claimed, somewhere, to actually have done a bunch of work, which Doki was willing to pay for if they could provide proof. They put together an item list (sans Storage, lol), but, good point, there's actually no confirmation they did anything beyond the sketch. Still, they might have done something at some point, which is kind of par for the course of someone that works themselves into scamming others. It's... weird, but I've run into that before.
Though the message from the current Manager is pretty funny, because they're kind of correct. If there was an implied contract, it's with the former company.
Well, now that I look at it, the actual breakdown is even more insane than I thought
- On January 10, Doki sent a twitter DMs to the builder, asking to restart the project.
- On January 13 at 10:40 AM, the builder replied to Doki, asking to work over discord.
- On January 14 at 7:59 AM, Doki responded to the artist, sharing Manager 3's Discord account for her to add.
From January 14 to January 16, the builder and Manager 3 collaborated to finalize the components and pricing before presenting them to Doki and the buyer.
On January 16, she sent over a PDF file, which was essentially an 'updated components list'—meaning she had changed some components—and included her full pricing of $7,200.
Between January 16 and January 18, Manager 3 informed the builder that the $7,200 quote was too high.
On January 18, the builder responded, stating she had consulted with one of her contacts and could reduce the build cost to $3,500, bringing the total to $6,600
Manager 3 refused this $6,600 offer, insisting that the amount should include shipping and taxes.
He decided to involve Doki in the discussion but had already expressed his desire that he no longer wanted to work with the builder.
From January 19 to January 30, they engaged in slapfighting and unable to reach a conclusion.
On January 30, the builder submitted an invoice and a calculation notes. Charging $5100 for "the work" she had provided from January 13 to January 31.
Manager 3 did not read the document properly and mistakenly believed that the 120 hours labeled as 'pre-production cost' were for the mock-up. He requested a timelapse to justify why the mock-up would require 120 hours of work.
But if you look at her actual calculation, she started charging from 13 to 31 January....
Tl;dr the 120 hours work wasn't even the fucking mock-up, she was charging $5100 for DISCORD MESSAGES & TWITTER DMS.

No, she got butthurt at drama channels because her company Streisand Effect-ed the fact that they were having a big wave of graduations and possibly doing shady things with investors, at a time when many other corpos were getting exposed as bad actors.
