Really not sure what happened with them. ID1's look way better. HoloX's shouldn't have been made much longer after theirs and are far more in-line with modern models than ones before them.

It is the product of their time, it is hampered by Covid, the girls themselves couldn't get to Japan for 3D, relegating it to Watson Studios for some actual gold mine for Hololive in the form of Smol Myth. And if I remember Hololive studio is not finished at that time.

One thing that irks me is that Ame's model inner coat is still not fixed. She have a lovely model, pair that with her coat it's really good, but the moment you take off her coat. The reason they were coping about it, is because they hate idol shit and Niji had a rock concert at their fes during one of the years. So they just got huffed out of their mind with "look Niji's 3D is so much better than this Hololive shit" when they weren't even talking about the quality of it in the first place. The one thing they, arguably, are still better at is home 3D hand tracking but unless you are Ange's fan you wouldn't be able to tell because she is the only who is actively using it on streams in place of regular live2D

What exactly are the issues with Myth's 3D model? There's Ame model where she can't take off her inner coat, but that's the only one I can think of. In the past there were also Kiara's non-existent butt and Calli's flat face but I thought both of these got fixed.

Of course what many people neglect to mention is that Niji had been huge since basically their first wave back in 2018 and they had plenty of capital to get better models, the scrappy Hololive didn't get their big break until gen 3 and only became truly powerful in 2020, so the tech took a couple of years to get there.

You can clearly see how the models, both 2D and 3D get noticeably better after a certain point in time, Myth just had the bad luck of having their models made in the old gen era but only being able to use them 2 years later when the company had already moved on.

To be fair, early on Niji's 3D really was good in a sense that they are willing to try things other corpo with 3D tech werent able to do or achieve like moveable objects or certain type of 3D assets and all that. Back then it was pretty much eye-opener and it isnt surprising to see everyone, not just the nijifags going "woah" about it. (Like me, I was guilty of this)

However, if compared to Hololive, the blue dorito probably sees this as a challenge and more or less began to update themselves. It also helped that Niji ended up kinda stagnating in terms of 3D stuff and well, there is so much you can do by relying only on your own in-house 3D team.
