Re:Cy Yu clips, I watched the full VOD of that stream for full context and almost everyone is misunderstanding some details.

It was NOT a recent interview. He didn't just dodge a bullet, he avoided this entire all out war altogether lol

The interview(s) happened circa 2021, a bit after his 1.0 debut as "Cy Yu". This was before his huge growth spike as both a VA and streamer for Genshin/Star Rail, etc. that happened around late 2022.
He was discontent with the lack of support for indie male Vtubers and had wanted to quit, so it seems he wanted to try his hand at auditioning to a corpo for perks.

The interview in which they would NOT let him continue voice work AT ALL was Niji. ("OH, so you put your voice work above all else?", "Is there any way we can convince you otherwise [to quit VA?]".... Literal super villain tact levels of persuasion here lol)

He says he also "auditioned" for another company which wanted to replace his agents with their own and that could only be Hololive for the Holostars division BTW, seeing as there's literally no other big corpo at the time accepting male talents. And afaik, Hololive allows their talents to still do voice over work. (Isn't Flayon a EN VA? Cy Yu knows him BTW so he must be)

Of course, he made the right choice, because after getting into Hoyoverse games as a VA, this dude hits 1k+ viewers minimum easily.
Maybe he would have enjoyed his time in Holostars but.... Niji would have broke this dude down completely.

My point is, each scandal/happening/whatever changes the industry in some way. I can't say for sure, but I don't think anything quite as big as this 'NiJiFuckupFest 2024' (or 'NegligibleGate', whatever) has happened with this great of an impact. The effects of this are going to take a long time to fully figure out the scope of the damage that's been done, and the long-term changes that will come from it.

I'm only thinking of this because I had the most horrible little thought pop into my head recently. So, everyone knows that Doki and Mumei have been irl friends for quite a while, and that Mumei has spent some time recently helping out her friend in need. Mumei has also had some personal issues of her own, be it her lingering health problems, or juggling her career and schooling.

Now imagine that things turned out worse than they did, and that Selen didn't survive her attempts. I have no problem whatsoever believing that Mumei would have quickly graduated from the industry that led her good friend down that path. That's just one change I could think of, out of who knows how many possible repercussions that could have resulted out of an event this serious. That would have certainly fucked me up, because Mumei is a fave of mine. Thankfully, Dokibird seems to be doing much better for herself these days, which is a big relief to know.

I guess all I'm saying here is that you should all love and appreciate your oshis and enjoy the time you have with them, because you just don't know how quickly things can turn to pure chaos in this crazy industry we all follow. ...wait, is this all Bae's fault?

The actual "bullying" that people talk about is probably like you said, more of the guilt-trippy, "fall in line" variety.
I'm inclined to believe that Elira maybe was relied on by JP management to translate, giving her a big head about her involvement in the company, and did stick her fingers in the approval process (And that's just cause it makes sense in my head, but yeah, no evidence). And there is definitely a lot of preferential treatment from management (maybe the two are related. Not necesarilly because Elira is management, but bc of both problems compounding on each other). But that's the adult toxic work environment type of bullying I'd say.
I think the more recent responses (and the two suicide attempts) are making people retroactively imagine the worst, but even in really bad coworker situations, they don't risk getting that bitchy.

It can be a great source of stress relief to be able to vent about things you normally can't to someone who will listen and believe you, and not rat you out. Let's say that a Nijiliver contacts Khyo and tells him big secrets nobody else knows. Then he goes live and says them exactly as they are, and provides receipts to prove they're true.

That liver has just committed career suicide forever. No corpo will ever trust them again, ever. No independent group will ever trust them again. No sponsor will trust them again. Even people like Keemstar have a corporate image to maintain will make these kinds of considerations when dealing with others. I read on the fujochink site a while back that Randon shared details about his homelife when he was younger pre-Holo. Take this all with the biggest grain of salt, but it claimed he was gay and his father abused him growing up. They claimed the second stabbing incident that he never told on stream as Vesper (the one he told was about him being stabbed while black out drunk and not realizing it) was his father had stabbed him. I have never been able to confirm any of this, though, so who knows.
