The lack of Archaea in your graphic triggers me a little bit, but yeah we are "closer" to Fungi.
As a microbiologist, these vtubers have convinced me that I could find a some new species in their houses.
Nobody knows wtf an "Archea" is
Is it true that we (eurakya) got bundled up with archea now? Or is that still bouncing around?
I was recently trying to figure out what flower we had growing in a chunk of the property. Because of a big re-organization in 2009, apparently almost everything is either an onion or asparagus, at this point. That was... confusing, to say the least.
Plants have gone through several big reorganizations over the years (not as many as birds :SelenHAHAhere:), problem with 'em is mostly that any group could include things that look like trees or flowers or bushes or vines while being closely related and occurring all over the world. Animals are a lot easier because apart from some cheeky convergence, shit is way easier to figure out from physical characteristics and distribution alone.

I get it, but it was just funny. It went from "is this a lily?" as a question to learning about the entire Allium family to finally finding it over in the Asparagus branch.

My knowledge of plant taxa goes only down to when it splits into monocots and dicots until that also got proven as inaccurate and paraphyletic because of course it fucking was...

These guys are trolling, seaweed are dried, water cleaned, blended, boiled, dried again and then oven roasted before it ever making into your hands.
Do not pick up random seaweed in the ocean and put in mouth, or drink mold water.

There is evidence that Eukaryota shares some proteins with Archaea and that puts Eukarya within Promethearcheota (also known as Asgard archaea). Changes in the upper clades are a thing you have to check from time to time, there is always something new.

Bro you confused me with that lol, asparagus and onions are grasses (monocots), the big division of the MAIN group of plants (eudicots) is actually rosids and asterids.

Ah, I see Taxonomy has the same fun problems as a lot of other supposedly settled "science". I normally use the joke with Cosmology. "You want a revolution in cosmology? Wait 5 years, everything they tell you now will be wrong." That line held on for a while, but it's now about every 7 years. The most recent hilarious bit I saw is that the acceleration of the universe is causes by these multiple spots that seem to be some convergence of waves of energy. They're currently in the Warhammer 40K War in Heaven phase of not having a clue what's going on but being supremely convinced of its truth.

Modern science is way too much just gaslighting people about theories that barely work. Their real problem, in cosmology, is they need a full cycle attack on Red Shift theory. We clearly do not understand something about the effects of wave shift over interstellar distances. It basically throws everything off for analysis after you get out of our local star for distances.

You know, we probably do need to put warnings like that up on places like this, haha.

The public transit system at Santa Clara county had not been working for over 2 weeks because the ATU, the union which the public transit agency employees are a part of, had been on a strike over contract negotiation. The ATU wanted a 18% increase in salary in the next 3 years while VTA, the public transit agency, offered a 9% increase in the next 3 years. Last week, VTA offered a new contact with a 11% increase and ATU rejected the contract offer. On Wednesday, a judge ordered ATU to end the strike and get the employees back to work.
:whatastory:

Edit: Wait I posted this in wrong thread. Thought this was the offtopic thread.

Main problem with taxonomy is that it's generally a thankless job done by very overworked people and a lot of its foundations were created when the people making the charts were basically a bunch of old english and french assholes going to papua new guinea or the amazon basin and pickling random bugs in jars of formaldehyde and naming them after the duke of york or whatever.

Taxonomy was done purely VISUALLY for a good 200 years before we began analyzing genes and it is still done visually for a lot of field work, specially with rarer species that don't even have a holotype or any pictures. The framework of the whole thing is arbitrary and the system was made by some botanist Christian in the 1700's who thought whales were fish and rocks were alive.

The bigger issue is that taxonomy does not describe absolute reality, like all science except pure logic it simply describes how us humans perceive reality. Nature cannot be beholden to 8 ranks in some arbitrary system, you cannot decide what is what with absolutely certainty. So we are in an eternal quest to get as close to describing reality as possible but since evolution is a constant for living beings it will NEVER be over. Livings beings do not go from one state to another, they gradually change like frames of a video, so any description is only describing a snapshot in a process, if you travelled a million years in the future the whole system would be flawed.
Let's stop this chat before somebody begins arguing about birds or protists or hyenas, I had a 4 hour debate with someone about that once I do not wish to relive.

Oh my fucking God. I thought they were joking about the failure part.
And to answer: rice, potatoes, veggies (see what's fresh), garlic, onions and eggs. The rest is whatever is cheap so go cooking.
I also recommend shit that can keep for long periods (Pickles for example) and Green Onions (even if they dry you can still use them for soup or rehydrate them.
Did anyone notice anything odd about the site about five-ten minutes ago? Was anyone logged out of their accounts at random? Just a weird incident where the Members Online stat suddenly plummeted to nearly zero (average 50-60 this time of day, was normal less than 10 minutes ago), but is now starting to climb back to normal.
Jamby lost his connection so we all did.
Jambalaya's alt account cluster had a hiccup, its back now, sorry for that
FUCK clock me.
I have this laying around, was gonna be a selen figure but I'm already making one, what vtuber should I make

Take in account that my figures somehow puts them at high risk of graduation and are like a sonichu medallion View attachment 93499

Re:AcT's Lisa Makoh is singing.

For some reason her house got a lot of animal invasion. Yesterday her stream was late because a stray cat which was living in her house attacked her.

Shioriha Ruri continuing Chrono Trigger at 7PM JST.

Previously she got the broken piece of Grandleon after clearing Mt. Denadoro and Hero's badge from Tata.

774inc's Kohaku Yuri revealing her new visual at 8PM JST.

They're doing this to get way from in-house model but almost everyone has Rityulate as illustrator, even the graduated Shisui Kiki (and same artist for her reincarnation). Wonder whether this will be the case again.

Someone made a part of Re:AcT's self proclaimed Internet senior citizen Coucourua Creil's cover song to an ad but somehow it's been promoted to people aged 65+

For some culinary, Machita Chima reviewed a strawberry shortcake instant noodle earlier.

Would you try it?

If you were having too happy of a night and would like to instantly ruin it, come read Shondo's account of her mother's funeral

:pippasadl:

Slight correction for the thread mark. Funeral hasn't happened yet, she is talking about visiting her mother's body at the chapel of rest/funeral home.

I Tried making an Ugly Nigga to fight against Gooks

The real play is to flood the game with Johnny Somali lookalikes.

That's not a fucking sword though.

Algae derivates get used in a bunch of shit industrially yeah.
Funnily enough algae is closer to plants than molds (fungi), which ironically WE animals are actually closer to. So yeah you are more closely related to mold than algae is DWEEB!

Well no shit, half the forum are just sentient morels. The other half are SEAmonkeys.

That reminds me. Vegans love to use mushrooms in replacing meat right? If mushrooms aren't plants and are far more similar to animals, are vegans truly vegans?

And I thought Pippa's mold couldn't be beaten. How about growing algae in your drink?

Edit: Turns out she left it exposed for over a year.

Pippa's mold stories are a cautionary tale, not an aspirational goal.

Vshojo is teasing... something for April 1st.

@VSoyBoy as the resident VShojo expert (no-one else watches them), do you have any context or information that could explain this for us?

And now from out of nowhere the Twitter algo is suggesting that I follow shachi, which is weird as I didn't even have Mumei followed.
The only time I've had this happen to me so far is when Pomu graduated and Twitter instantly pushed dearskin onto my feed. Same feeling of "huh?"
please do not eat the mold, no matter what the voices in your head tell you!
Brother this planet was ruled by Fungi before anything else we are breathing the mold as we live and go about our days. The mold just hasn't taken us over (yet) because we're too warm (for now).
