Thats very off the mark and retarded. PL info considered irrelevant to their content creation (i.e personal life) was the taboo thing. But people being wink wink nudge nudge annoyingly or having certain references was always in place before Selen-gate. I think even r/virtualyoutubers just had people put (public) PLs behind tagged spoilers in one of the few moderation/culture things thats respectable from that.
Content creation PL referencing was never taboo because of idol culture, but trying to do schizophrenic connections to see if someone got fucked or used to talk to the opposite gender back in 2015 was.

This whole retarded argument stems from the fact that PL can mean either Past Life (aka previous body of work) or Personal Life (dox) and all of you dumb fucks are mixing the two up every other post.
In the Proctor's post, "PL" was past life (e.g, their content creation) and i typed my argument based on that, there was no confusion on either of our posts, he actually says new accounts later in his spiel

People have found their oshi through the Lazarus thread, it's useful, I just don't think it's healthy to mix real life stuff.
We'll always have exceptions like Clara being a sperg on her public secondary account, whose behavior ended spilling in her vtuber account, but I think we shouldn't rule by "vtuber did an oopsie, time to dig", rather compromise on "this is a repeated behavior and it's really weird it keeps happening, time to dig".
I'm in favor of the Skinwalker Chart, mind you. I would never know Mochi was Stella from VRev, wouldn't guess in a million years she moved to a microcorpo when she said she was going to a long break.

I frankly don't care about what Proctor is doing, reincarnations are basically not even secret nowadays when we have 20 zillion fucking retards and tourists spamming "PL!!!!! OMG DID U HEAR ABOUT PLLLLLL?!?!?!" everywhere they can because they think they're so big brain and clever. As long as it's not their faces or RL info linked in there then you're really not going to get a host of tourists and sisters infesting this forum like they did Nyfco. Those kinds of people aren't even in /vt/ because doxing vtubers is also banned there, after Nyfco died they just moved to a series of anti discords that exist solely to lust over/seethe over vtubers.
