Gura streamed last night and you know what that means, the blood of a Nijisanji member need to be offered as a price

In this case, Sister Claire from Nijisanji JP has a "important announcement"

"大切なお知らせ"
It's bad, isn't it?

Fucking gura.
Confirmed, Gura stopped streaming because each time she does something dies.
It is only gonna get worse.

True though. 2020 was like the golden age of vtubing, courtesy of the COOF. Now, it's like the big crunch is going on and everyone's fighting for a market that doesn't really grow anymore

OOH, here's one for the NijiL thread:

Knowing Mika she'd probably do this meme in reverse

More like the market inflated for an audience which isn't there anymore, specially the western market. Shit like Regloss and new NijiJP waves have shown that japan is still growing even now, because vtubers have broken into the mainstream. In japan chuubas are now celebrities that are accepted, they are artists, they get plastered all over akiba in giant screens and in subway stations, their concerts are massive.

In the west we will probably never reach that point, western vtubing is imo a cynical satire of its roots, it's a mockery, a dumb gimmick and it will never be taken seriously. Instead of bursting through to the mainstream like it was doing in 2020, the western market has just become a subcategory of the japanese pop culture and streaming spheres, nothing more than a fleeting novelty. The bubble has finally popped with how many corpos who were trying to copy Holo died last year, I predict that the future will see one of two outcomes: western vtubing will shrink massively and become a niche for weirdos, or it will just become a different kind of streaming that nobody cares about. Or maybe both, the first for the JP companies that manage to hold on and the latter for the westoid corpos who give up trying to imitate the east.

In a way I'm actually grateful this is what ended up happening. Most of the new VTubers I come across now genuinely belong in the medium, whereas back in 2020 there was an overload of Twitch whores and other normie streamers that decided to don an anime avatar because it was trendy... Twitch VTubing still hasn't recovered from this.

Better that the westoids go full on the "kawaii uguu" shit than actual tourists that use a model once and then post their tits for fansly

Although to be fair now even weaboo women post their tits on fansly so maybe its a lose-lose

Oh yeah. HoloLive will see continued success in the West, barring catastrophe, and the indies will live or die depending on whether or not they are actually willing to commit to the grueling content grind.

Which is why I keep repeating for anyone considering becoming an anime person: make sure you have your plans B and C, because VTubing alone won't bring in a full income without years of work put into it. Also consider additional revenue streams outside of streaming, but still related to the chuuba persona, so that they can feed from each other and mitigate risk of going under completely. If you are able to provide a good or service, even better! Want to learn a skill that others would pay you for? Learn it on stream, as an example, and the content builds itself from there!

None of the above advice applies to VTweeters, however, because they have issues pressing the "Go Live" button in the first place!

As expected, she is not fixed.

She's practicing for the Twitch Rivals event and is going super tryhard for it. Apparently some of the other streamers that were made captains just grabbed other big named streamers while she went after people that were top 500 to crush them. Doki isn't here to have fun, she wants to win.
The only question is who's JK Simmons' character in this

The only real danger of this is that /lig/gers and their cliques will be the predominant vtubers if corpos either slowly fade away or decide to go for bigger aspirations that dont solely involve streaming/content creation. Indies without something moderating them in the west is pretty volatile imo. There's still some dwindling hope in me that "the good ones" will not go full grifting whore and will inspire others like them to do the same despite "the potential" you get for posting tits on fansly.

I am remembering the one Hana Macchia tweet that went kind of viral years ago about her equating vtubers to egirls and honestly in the current day she wasn't lying, though slightly misguided.

If you only value yourself as a streamer and think the ceiling doesn't get any higher or you don't want to do anything other than that, you're probably going to end up going down a degenerate path which leads to egirl-ism and whoring it up on fansly. If you actually learn skills of some sort and stream yourself doing so (You're a weeb? Learn Japanese. You like vidya? Maybe learn to code and make something for a gamejam, etc) You'll end up learning something and can make content from it. People love to see self-improvement or learning skills in real time. That's IMO what "Idol-culture" is. It's not entirely singing and dancing but seeing someone grow as a person and supporting them as a fan.

I'm consistently surprised by the lack of familiarity within even the anime community regarding Vtubers. Like in a surface level sure quite a few look anime. But many of those if you watch them they don't really FEEL like it. Then of course you have the VR chat expatriots who don't even look the part either. So I've learned to just keep my mouth shut regarding it for the most part.

It's sad how many people are able to earn a living by just being a lazy subpar e-whore. I don't understand people who pay for this. If i wanted to look at pair of mediocre tits just hanging there, i can do this IRL no problem, also touch. When i watch porn, i want entertainment, i want excellence, i want to see something that i can't get IRL with minimal effort.
