So to clarify further while at a glance the manager sounds retarded. The Throne thing is an INCREDIBLY legit concern. Like in the US at least gifts to corpos ARE a thing that can be a tax headache.

Not sure where you got that numbers from. She has 2.2k on YT and 1.5k on Twitch, so about 3.7k.
There is also the fact that this is like their 6th MC collab so people got bored of it. Even Henya on Twitch who usually got more views only has like 3k views.

The thing is, there actually is a common $50 corporate gift policy in the US (some companies can have it lower) but it's not tax-related - it's usually more from an anti-bribery, ethics and conflict-of-interest standpoint. This is usually drilled/trained to employees regularly - especially for those working under a company that handles federal or state government contracts . So if this new manager is being a stickler for this, it's kind of a huge flag that he/she came from that corpo setting and is a total fucking fish out of water trying to implement that in a fucking job/industry WHERE FUCKING GIFTS/DONOS ARE THE NORM.

The problem however is that under a corpo setting like this the corpo owns the IP making the vtuber essentially an actor or someone who operates what essentially is a mascot. And under this Throne dilemma you aren't giving money or items to Squirmimi the actor or the actor behind her you are giving it to Squirmimi the vtuber. Which effectively counts as an unaccounted for income source that would be piling into the corpo even though it is going directly to the talents

I wasn't really following this kerfuffle closely other than the initial point-and-laugh, but was the chuuba's Throne account non-sanctioned? If so, then yeah, it's an issue since now it's undeclared income/compensation source that has not been taken into account in their tax filing by the corpo's accounting department.

Out of interest, because UK company filings are public record here's the listing for Brave group europe Limited which has their accounts for 2023 currently listed. This has them with around £30K left in the bank 1 month before their 1st generation debuted, since then they have debuted 12 talents. Accounts update is due on the 30th of June at the latest so will be an interesting look at how much they have brought in and burned through in a year. Another interesting point is that only one of the business owners appears to actually be in Europe.

Managers likely based in Japan like Hololive rather than living in the UK and employed (if actually employed and not a contractor) to Brave Group rather than Brave EU Ltd.
