Oh yeah, now that you mention it I vaguely remember something like that as well. Interesting that that's not mentioned in the tweet. Granted, I pay very little attention to the music/idol side of it all, so I'm completely ignorant, but as an outsider looking in, I've always wondered what sort of image they were imagining for these different experiments. It's understandable that they may have wanted to try different things, but even when I hear that a certain project is wanting to put a lot of focus on music, which it looks like DEV_IS has, I sometimes forget that they aren't actually a part of HoloJP because they blend in so well. Obviously, I didn't expect them to be separate from the others, but at the end of the day, I like to kick back and watch Kanade be an absolute menace with a goofy laugh in the same way I like to watch someone like Pekora or Miko.

A new branch doesnt start with just the talent. It starts with staffs and separate office workspace.
It is also a way of promoting old staff into senior positions without old senior staff, but I dont think this is the main reason.
I think they initally wanted something completely different. As the audition process are also completely different than that of HoloJP. (regloss already confirmed this)
Then after they recruited regloss. They had an epiphany that autistically enforcing separation wont work, you might make a new holostars instead. And decided to shift them back closer to normal holoJP.
Also something easily missed if you dont check, dev_is constantly pump out music covers. It is at least a more music focus branches.

Would love to get fact checked about this but I dont think the ex-idol girls in flow glow was really that big, might even be matsuri-sized.
Sure akb48 moniker sounds great but the group already far far far past their prime and only a shadow of themselves now. It's like joining NijiEN these day and think you are as big as Vox wad in 2020.
The real big "acquisition" of flowglow was Niko being a million subbed youtuber. (Which also happened before with gura)

Honestly I feel bad for Kiara here and it's great that she's going to collab with Gigi tomorrow but ever since the new Mincraft server was released it's literally all some of them have been doing like Bijou's been copying Kaela with her all day streams then you have advent and justice doing it almost as much like the server just started and yet it feels like it's been around much longer because of these girls' addictions

Its understandable that the newer members would want to have their own Minecraft experience. Minecraft basically died a little after when Kaela joined and the servers merged. EN got 2 new waves and JP got 3 new waves that have not played. Many of the older JP members also love Minecraft but felt like there was nothing to do as it was all super developed.

Even if they can't do mods I think doing some sort of limited time "server opens at this hour then closes 8 hours later" kinda thing to condense everyone like with GTA and then also add some kind of story element or challenge. Maybe the server is limited to a 1kx1k area and split into two groups and they have to compete or something, and shit like the nether is disabled at first so people can't get endgame gear in literally 2 hours.

Creating an interesting map like floating islands or dungeons doesn't have to be as elaborate as Enreco either, you don't need a bunch of custom shit, just some interesting places to explore and some plugins which make the game harder so the autists don't immediately trivialize any kind of challenge for everyone else. Maybe redstone is in a far away floating island or something so farms are harder to make, maybe mobs become more powerful each couple of days by giving them potion effects.

Edit: The "regular SMP" shtick was fine in the 1st and 2nd servers when most of the nip members were total noobs who just made mud huts and flower gardens and like 3 people had full diamond, but after the IDs, specially moona and kaela came in, and everyone started copypasting farms from youtube in and tryharding the game it became a lot more boring. That kind of thing is what kills most SMPs anyway, nobody knows how to build because it takes 5000 hours to be anywhere near competent, and any challenge or exploration is void because every single resource in existence has been farmed and made easily accesible. It just becomes creative mode with extra steps.

He did say this. The notion that Phase requires invaders to turn over their IP came entirely from the Yuri incident and it's far more likely that she just had to put it on the table to compensate for a weaker bargaining position.

Maybe? I can't imagine what kind of insurance, though. IP insurance is to help you defend from claims that your company infringed, so the talent would need to bring suit against the agency. But if the talent owned the IP and was acting as a contractor how are they going to claim infringement?

It's probably one of those things we can guess at all day but are likely to never know for certain.
