This goes for many vtubers: if there was something that genuinely bothers you in your community, it won't go away unless you address it. Indulging in a bitchfest behind the scenes is unhealthy and awful treatment of fans. Riding the storm just because you're afraid to lose supporters is no way to live, at that point just suck silicone ears on Fansly for the bigger profit margin. Look at how Kiara tardwrangled bottom left memes; an excessive emotional outburst but very clear and overnight it was dropped by her fanbase. A good community will understand reasonable boundaries, even if they're having fun. A good fan wants to have fun with you, not at your expense.
I did want to point out here before my funny shitpost that the difference between Kiara tardwrangling her audience and most vtubers unable or unwilling to address problems in their audience and instead engaging in backroom "fuck my fans lol" DMs is that; Kiara through her hardships in life learned to grow (something of) a spine and tell people off. Most (not all but definitely a majority) of vtubers aren't like Kiara and fear rocking the boat they're on because that's their paycheck plus it's a "comfortable" job. Weeding out undesirables and purposely going through rough waters is "bad". Why would you purposely take a few steps down from the mountaintop you've sat yourself at just to have to climb it again? That's hard and minor setbacks to mentally ill people (99% of vtubers) are typically seen as being way more massive than they actually are.
The leak cuts out what the context of whatever tards she is talking about and what they did to annoy her and it's pretty obvious she's not talking about her fans as a whole, but a specific group of them that is ruining what would otherwise would be a good streaming experience.
This is one of the cringiest videos I have ever watched.
Sooo let me get this straight... a bunch of random people, who have no known experience running a vtuber agency or working in managerial positions... decide that they in their infinite lack of wisdom or knowledge about the industry... will *insert cliche #56* fix vtubing by being DIFFERENT and not moderating their talents whatsoever (their words not mine)... and they have had so little success or attention that they are now asking people for money... instead of doing the sensible thing and just... selling merch.
Jesas, it sounds like the plot to a tragic comedy movie.
I repeat my "western vtubing is a cynical parody of its roots" take
Amerifats/yuros and their ilk know nothing more than taking other cultures and dumbing them down into barely recognizable crap run by jews and DEI fags.
I don't know how this idiot somehow manages to constantly produce terrible takes, but what the hell does idol culture have to do with the anonymity of vtubers? Idols debut showing their faces, they aren't anonymous.
There was also this leak (thread 94713723) No further leaks about the pixel situation sadly, just this: View attachment 89257
This doesn't paint Chio in the greatest light, shitting on her fanbase (her PL's too) to what I assume is a discord inner circle (since her official one is just for notifs). Now this would be a drop in the bucket if we looked at the vtuber scene as a whole, but what makes this pretty sour to me is that she's face of pixellink's self-implosion and received a lot of support for it. So far her "tards" have contributed:
An entire vtuber model (I can't find a way to view the cost but I assume thousands)
$649 3DIO
$549 metaquest VR headset
~$500 towards an ongoing asset goal of around $1000
$150 Elgato Stream Deck
Plus tons of small gifts here
Am I crazy in thinking a community willing to drop 2k at a moment's notice would constitute a "fun, loving, teasing audience"? I did a bit of digging just to see if there was anything that would warrant this remark.
Now some of those throne purchases were by a small handful of whales that could have been in her discord, but the vtuber model had 30 independent contributors listed so there's a good chance the pool of her supporters is outside of it, which gives her less cause to lash at her own. Maybe she's just referring to just a few schizos in her community, right? She has recently mentioned having to dish out bans in a recent YT post, maybe we're lacking some context? But the wording of her last two comments seem to be all-encompassing of her fanbase, I don't know how else you could interpret it.
She IS a loli which can attract the worst kind of assholes, so I did some due diligence and checked a handful of her popular streams and the most recent one (I ignored ASMR because you know exactly what sort of tourists that brings), clicked through the timeline and read snippets of her chat and went through the comments. The result? Very tame. A couple of unfunny jokes, some sensible backseating, decent comments, she replies every so often too. I don't even think I saw single crying emoji, so it's not like she was surrounded by uohfags like Yuko was, so the only conclusion I can come to is she is thoughtlessly hyperbolic and this screenshot captured her at the worst time, or she's disappointingly twofaced. Shame since I thought the pixellink girls were mostly well-regarded.

In short: there's little evidence that her community is full of tards and this comes off as incredibly ungrateful.
The saddest part is that it's completely uncalled for too because the few yaps I listened to mostly consisted of normal day-to-day stuff, nostalgia and games, nothing off-color that would cause her to cultivate a bad audience or inflict existential shame once the camera is off, her gameplay commentary was clean too. I actually left with a better impression than I had going in. This leak is really confusing. Neither side seems bad here. Maybe I have staggeringly bad sample selection and some Chio regulars can confirm this behavior lines up or is justified?
Just be wary giving her something akin to Doki status if she does strike out from Pixel, if it's not dead by the end of Feb.
Considering the fact she has a loli model, and the retards in Yuko's audience didn't just ditch the scene, I get the feeling she ended up getting a lot of them. And goddamn a lot of them are insufferable retards, so I can understand if she is referring to them.

The only thing I have ever heard about this corpo is this money begging thing.
Not one single thing about any of their talents or even a single clip of whatever their streams are about. It's amazing they even got so many donations as it is.

Imagine having your big-tiddy bunny girl compensated dating game interrupted with extended cutscenes where the girl talks about her period pains and cramps and accuses you of being an asshole, and all you can do is nod and smile and say: "wow, sounds awful, and I'm so sorry for being so inconsiderate."

he usually has retarded takes infact this is also one.
But he's referring to Idols who after debut refuse to do anything seen as "un idollike" they essentially turn themselves into a fake/hyper controlled version of themselves which fans parasocially latch onto
that being said Vtubers are doing shit against that idols are still idoling the only difference is that shit does not work with a png/model because there is already a disconnect.

It's like young people liking socialism or anarchism. When you have nothing and are stuck at the bottom while the people/institutions who started their journeys ages ago "Oppress" you and keep you down, it's very easy to say "fuck the system let's burn it all down". Young people don't own property or have kids, just like new indie vtubers don't have established careers or loyal followings or corpos they rely on, to them, destroying the old world will always be the easiest road to success.
This also applies to bandwagoners and outsiders who want to worm their way in, you can't really control the industry because the filthy nips still own a pretty chunk of it. You can't run your misinformation campaigns and label shit as "morally evil" when other people still do it to great success.
The fall of Niji marked a before and an after, it had been building way back when, even ever since the Taiwan shit. It's very clear to me and it has become clearer with time that this industry is splintering, there's too many people with interests and plans which don't align with each other. Niji was just the spark needed to put the process on high gear, expect more people expressing attitudes like Jocat in the future and more division than ever among vtuber fans. Idk if it will be east vs west or corpos vs indies but something has to give, there's not enough space in this industry for all of us.

Yeah I know it's not her fault but ever since the Selen bullshit I've noticed what seems to be an evergrowing trend to shit on what used to be respected in the Vtubing sphere

The difficulty in wrangling fans has been a thing ever since online entertainment moved from being primarily ad-supported to being primarily crowdfunded. Someone who is as successful as Kiara can afford to shed a few undesirables because she has enough reach that if they stop donating, someone else will show up to take their place; smaller creators do not have this luxury. Losing one generous donor genuinely does make a noticeable impact on their income and the $100 from LoliArmpitSniffer69 could be the decider on whether they can afford rent that month or not, so there's pressure to grin and bear him being obnoxious in their chat even if every other part of them wants to set firmer boundaries with him.
I also feel like a lot of the (admittedly often shitpost-y) "X HATES her fans!" shit whenever these chatlogs and/or on-stream snaps happen oversimplifies how streamers actually feel about their audience, since I doubt anyone either entirely loves or entirely hates their audience as a whole, or even specific identifiable regulars who they can get a multi-layered read on over time. I just look at someone like JL7ten in Pippa's chat and assume she mostly likes him because he's an enthusiastic fan who seems nice on the surface, but probably also doesn't care for him whining about Kirsche or trying to backseat what subjects she's "allowed" to talk about. I can't help but feel there's probably a similar kind of nuance in that Chio chatlog that got cropped out, because a blanket "I'm sick of these people who bought me all this equipment" seems like a pretty radical position even for a menhera.

The Selen drama broke containment and gave every attention-seeking tourist another vague entity they can pile on to farm updoots. They would never be able to define what "idol culture" is, but they know if they complain about it they get the same soyfaced approval as when they complain about "gamers" or "chuds".

Selen isn't at fault, neither is Niji for that matter. It was going to happen, they just happened to be the morons who fucked up big enough, it could've just as easily been Holo in a different reality.

I'd actually say it was Nijisanji's fault, because Selen was treated so badly that everyone, regardless of how long they'd been in the sphere, thought that Selen was treated unfairly and didn't mind dropping previous norms and referred everyone to Selen's new account and openly discussed her previous life. It also fueled matters when Doki decided to do stuff like name her fanbase the "Dragoons" to show that she didn't really care for previously-accepted norms either.
I'm not completely against changing norms, either, I'm quite fine with how Selen/Doki and the fanbase handled everything.

Lmao. Yeah, I'm sure all the "literal whos?" that participate in that "vtuber vs IRL" trend when it pops up are totally breaking down the idol culture roots within vtubing and will someday completely change the culture of vtubing in spite of the vast majority of recognizable names in the medium adhering to the general norms of vtubing.
Watch out Hololive. You may be selling out concerts and filling the stands with your idol concerts, but soon enough, all that will come crumbling down when the vTweeters and 1-2 view indies come to change everything.
