I know the oriental rationale was "she's a cool gaijin that raps in our tongue" to pick her up but it would've been nice if they picked someone who was actually a fan of the series, has she even played the games?

Konami probably picked one of the many English songs (honestly not sure if there are Japanese ones). Pomu, just doesn't have the JP following. So that doesn't exactly leave a lot outside of Pekora or known JP V-tubers who are fans singing in Engrish, which would be very funny, but probably not the best business move. Hell, Konami have their own V-tubers now and they're not even picking them because they're so forgettable Konami doesn't even know they exist.
And what a fucking horrid thing to wake up to. Why is it that whenever I don't pay attention to a thumbnail, the moment I hear a robot voice my heart sinks. Leave Selen alone clout chaser.
But at the very least ShishiWata was there to cleanse my pallet with a video of them tasting the wagashi they made during Botan's Anniversary video.
Hololive managers definitely can handle hiring people for the project themselves if you ask for it, and it is an expected behavior from them. But, and this is the main issue, they only have their own list (often different from manager to manager) of people that they ask to work on a project. If you want to work with someone big asking them without having any kind of personal connection is pointless, they are always working and will always prioritize working with someone they already had good experience with. A lot of active in production vtubers had their own personal connections prior to joining a company, so it's quicker and easier for them to handle this by themselves. If you have a guy's phone or can slide into DMs at any point it becomes inefficient to ask the manager to do the same and then wait for 3 months. So it doesn't surprise me when vtubers prefer to do everything without a manager, and then people who were only regular streamers, like Nina, have to rely on managers only to get fucked over because Niji probably hired nobodies with zero contacts
Yes, she mentioned during the Bloodstained playthrough, also mentioned Silent Hill before that. She also sang MGR songs multiple times in karaoke.
That reminds me
This exact stream was when she became my oshi. Because Youtube does not archive beyond 11:55 so she made it two streams, but it was like over 13 hours.
ok then I have no beef. I don't know if she has the pipes to match any of the songs though, she is black in spirit but she doesn't compare to cynthia harrell's voice at all. It would be a pretty Konami move if they asked her to write a rap song for mgs after all these are the same people who think making a streaming series made by the jj abrams studio is peak silent hill
