You don't even need autism to do that. It kind of takes the fun out of it when they make it that easy.
I think most vtubers don't care much about their face opsec. They mostly want to limit number of people who can recognize them. For which not faceposting (on main) (much) and wearing medical mask while roaming the con works just fine. See Numi/Bao/Lily gang, not many people actually recognize them IRL.

1. Recent political rioting a stone's throw from San Jose is aligned with a political group
2. Offkai and associates hate phase connect for political reasons aligned with that same group
3. Offkai and associates previously harmed Phase Connect for political reasons
4. Phase Connect is hit by looting/crime in a way that harms them moderately
5. I've not yet heard of other vendors/organizations being hit by that kind of crime

So, it isn't unreasonable to suppose the possibility that the same group of people who hate Phase for political reasons and attacked them previously are involved in this recent incident, rather than it being merely a fact of life or the cost of business in a high crime area. Just something to consider in your possibility matrix.

Edit: My bad - I meant a stone's throw from SF. The point is that the people in that milieu are not afraid of using looting/crime if it is advantageous.
Why does everything have to be the big Left vs Right hate war?
What about Up vs Down?

On a side note, how well do crimes like these get handled in America? My perception is that any petty theft aside from pickpocketing will be found within a month - do American cops not have much free time?

Varies greatly from State to State, city to city, town to town.

The worst ones simply don't prosecute crimes, or judges let them out on bail, or, if convicted, a slap on the wrist (figuratively), so the criminal class are just doing things again and again.

Eventually, cops just get sick of arresting the same person ten times in a week, so they don't enforce such laws. The destruction is intentional.

This is a downtown area in California and the perpetrators are likely spics or Yamanbas, and there was no violent incident involved. The cops will give this the amount of time it takes to end the phone call, and promptly forget it.

Did you know, in California shoplifting isn't a felony until the stolen items are valued over ~$1000, and the police don't give a shit about non-felony crimes (except for traffic violations).

Don't live in blue states or blue cities (or cities in general if you can avoid it); that's where most of your problems will originate. Especially if you see terms like "sanctuary city" or "diversity".

If you see people like this in local or state government, this is not a good sign.

Police dont give a shit about catching thieves ever unless they steal something extremely valuable, from someone important, kill someone, or are bored and dont have anything else to do. :chibiBrainDamage:

Legally, the police aren't actually required to do anything beyond the bare minimum of taking the phone call. :SelenHAHAhere:

If Phase is extremely lucky, there will have been cameras in the parking lot and the police may look into it because this is bad for tourism. Most likely, the merch will end up on Ebay or something in a few weeks if the thieves didn't just throw it all away because it wasn't something like electronics.
Hope the merch was insured :shiinasadbee:

The felony threshold could be $1 and it wouldn't matter because the police aren't going to get off their ass to hunt down a thief. The only time thieves like this ever get arrested is if they get caught in the act, anything past that is not worth their effort.

There is no way the amount stolen wasn't at least $1000 if it was enough that they had to make an announcement for lack of stock, so it was a felony regardless.:fishmandispair:

I too believed in the ‘go live in a cabin in the woods’ dream; but good internet, fast food chains, and shopping / leisure district are a must or I’d go mad. I don’t think people realise just how comfortable city life is until they lose it.

Then again, maybe the American countryside is different if it’s full of Pippa mold and Runie drivers.

It sounds like the Oshibar thing was kind of a disaster, with people having to wait in line forever to get served and others getting turned away despite having VIP tickets.

That's every state. The $1k threshold is in the median. Texas' is like $2.5k

Phase panel had a start where Clio was the only one you could hear for a bit before the rest of them (and you heard her discord notif). Phase concert was slightly delayed by a few mins and had some more bass than it should have twice but was fine. Uruka absolutely killed Mephisto

A cabin in the woods is neato for weekends/hunting I guess?

Live in a suburb or semi-rural area (also known as bedroom communities). Between the nearest city and their metropolitan area, smaller towns and villages, parks/state parks/bodies of water/natural attractions, you'll probably have those requirements mostly met if you're willing to drive up to 60 minutes.

Cities are nice to visit, but definitely not to live in, for me.

Also, why are you a woman?

There is a table where people can write messages for recently graduated corpo VTubers, and while people are largely behaving themselves from what I've seen, there (inevitably) have been some people writing unsavoury messages for Nijisanji Livers.
