It follows the thought-forms of religion in all ways except being open about belief in the supernatural (the dialectic standing in for the will of God/destiny). It even has a tendency to result in the veneration of icons.
Communism's end goal (as opposed to afterlife) is also supernatural because communism doesn't have concrete mechanics for how it will be implemented.
Communism's idea of "enlightened man" (as opposed to god) is demonstrably supernatural.
The whole "DON'T QUESTION SCIENCE, IT'S SETTLED!" thing really makes it apparent that they're trying to supplement religion with their own. People are fundamentally incapable of not thinking about the world in concepts that mirror religion. Faith in something is inevitable if you're going to be capable of function.
