I previously saw an Inis stream advertised as her reading the Bible aloud to chat, which was actually her reading passages from an Aleister Crowley text or satanic bible or something. This crucifix bit happening at Easter, and when the Pope died as well, so my impression is that this was not a joke meant in good fun that might have accidentally been in poor taste, but an intentional expression of mockery as part of a pattern of behavior of contempt for Christianity and Christians. Her response to some of the negative reactions is that people are taking it "a bit too far":

a

Here, Strawb tries to politely reprimand her, saying she must at least understand how it might be perceived as offensive. She clarifies that she does understand.

a

It calls to mind the crucifixion of the Pipkin Pippa effigy at Offkai last year.

Mockery of Christ and believers is to be expected as a Christian - it's demonstrated repeatedly throughout the Bible. It is surprising to see a vtuber who isn't a Twitch 2-view engaging in it quite so brazenly. I personally find this sort of thing akin to /r/atheim ni**er behavior; an indicator of vanity and ignorance.

I think that's false equivalency. Christianity is easier to play with because it was everywhere, everytime, we are taught it just by existing in modern society, much more if you live in *check notes* 70% of the world.

To mock or to parody islam, buddhism or even judaism you'd need to go out of your comfort zone and study them to find the interesting parts, likely hypocrisy or clashes with modern civilization to build a joke, and most people won't do content with stuff they're not familiarized with, unless it was brought to them- that's how Fox News thrive.

Didn't know her before and never want to after seeing this. A shame that Lumi thinks this is fine. Christian mockery has been so ingrained into mainstream culture that retards like these are allowed to get away with making blasphemous shit without consequence. You never see this reaction when Jews, Muslims or any other religion is mentioned. Funny isn't it?

Ok. Tell me what you think the consequences should be that will decide how deluded you are.

You can't just say Christianity is hands off because it might offend some people (presumably you)

ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERNET.

That being said you want to chuck bibles at her for shitty taste in "humor" go for it ill judge you for which retarded extreme you take it to .

there are no sacred cows except in islam and even they make jokes about it.

Edit: ok the sacred cows joke was very dumb.

It reads to me that you're not really upset about christian mockery, just that it's only christians, and I think most users here will agree with you. The only other religion (is it considered one?) that is as mocked are the mormons, their dead horse joke being soaking (it's pretty funny that the act exists, ngl).
IMO no religion is free of sin and you can always prickle big wounds they left behind, and that includes christianism (if not the most notorious one for dominating half the globe).

Your definition of whore is too broad. :smugpipi:
She's on the e-girl category, when she starts luring people with her body then you'll be correct.

That's just scratching the surface. The Assyrians (who probably invented it, as they were hardcore pacifists), Babylonians, Persians, Israelites, Greeks and Phoenicians/Carthaginians all practiced crucifixion before the Romans adopted it (the latter two groups are good candidates for introducing it to Rome, probably around 300 BC).

There's a difference between mocking a religion and their rituals, and mocking a figure held sacred in said religion alongside a specific act they performed. In this case, it's a direct mockery of God's sacrifice for humankind's sins absolution, which is the core of Christianity.
This is... pretty ugly no matter how you look at it.

Tbh I am really surprised at this forum's reaction to this Inis shit.
I'm a life-long atheist but I can respect other's beliefs so I did think it was in bad taste, but I expected you boys to go "Haha! Sadgirl Menhera! Edgy = Cool!" and for Proctor to explode in religious indignation and then get mocked and told off for "Caring too much", it is refreshing to see that not everyone has descended into absolute irreverence and satire for the sake of it.

I'm an atheist as well, but I just think Christianity jokes are overdone and safe edgy dogshit. I think people are more upset at the fact you can't make jokes about other religions like this, and only Christianity can be the butt of the joke without any real pushback.

A very important point, to make intelligent humour about a belief system you have to be actually familiar with its inner workings.
When the Charlie Hebdo guys got murdered the thing that got the most air time were their caricatures of Muhammad, which were in the easy and crass shock jock humour of their covers
la-une-du-prochain-numero-de-charlie-hebdo-circulait-deja-aujourd-hui-sur-twitter-photo-dr-132...jpg
Muhammad says "100 lashes if this one doesn't make you die of laughter"
TXN2BDUKVREOTNXFDXOHJFMA4U.jpg
"Massacre in Egypt: The Quran is shit (it doesn't stop bullets)"
But the thing is that they had and continue to have writers and artists on payroll who grew up Muslim so they could make deep cut commentary on the religion, like Riad Sattouf, Ali Diem or Zineb El Rhazoui
Anyway, Toffee's playing Ender Lilies

That's fair. The figure of the cross itself is so widespread in JRPG and weeb media, they have a lot of westaboos and kaiserboos around, so you'd think people engaging with an offspring of anime culture would understand it as a joke, as Nenelove said. I was raised christian too but broke off since college because the institution itself, at least here, is corrupt to no salvation.

I don't think anyone here is disputing she meant it as a joke. It's just neither a smart, tasteful nor funny one.
