That bit from a Star_ VOD (that I've never seen) at the end hits pretty hard for me. I watched a lot of his videos back in the day when TF2 was at that "Prime" between 2011-2016. He was one of the biggest tf2 youtubers at that point in time and was also pretty competitive focused, too. So hearing the comp players that he liked fucked with him behind the scenes (either outright griefing him, calling him shit for not helping their cause (being promoting comp-tf2 through his videos) or when he actually carried the fuck out of his comp-shitter teams they'd cope about it) because he laid out the facts about comp tf2 not being as popular as regular ol' vanilla-fuck-around tf2 is pretty, I don't know how to say it other than Eye-opening? No fucking wonder he ditched the game for Overwatch after Compshitters & Valve killed the game with the MYM update.

The bit where he played Muselk hitting the nail on the head about literally everything in 2016 shortly before he completely pivoted to Overwatch & Fortnite was enlightening too. Somehow the guy now best known for literal children's sloptent had a better understanding and genuine care for TF2 than a decent chunk of the current playerbase & Valve themselves.

Seeing the reaction Star_ kept getting from the TF2 community, YEARS after he stopped playing or doing anything in regards to TF2 really makes me more sympathetic to the Nijipolice guy faking his fucking death to get away from those creatures.

He willingly came back anyways, three years before he became a VTuber. I think the main reason he came back was probably because he felt guilt over tricking everyone so thoroughly that Valve also fell for it and added a memorial to him on the Axtinguisher's description (his signature weapon).

You should. Not sure if you've watched the entire video and thus know the fine details of the games or not, but they are legitimately good JRPGs, particularly 2/Chronicle.

[Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2] You should. Not sure if you've watched the entire video and thus know the fine details of the games or not, but they are legitimately good JRPGs, particularly 2/Chronicle.

They were good, not great. They were fun enough games but nothing that really "wowed" me.

I haven't played Kingdom Come. I bought it a long time ago on the Xbox for like 12 bucks but who has the time anyway

I've been watching videos and catching some of Synthetic Man's livestreams and what is with the millennial writing? And the dialogue responses seem like a railroady nightmare worse than I saw with Veilgard. With Veilgard at least everyone was annoying. I saw a system worse than Andromeda where you don't have any pushback at all. Andromeda was a sign of things to come it seems and now that slop vision is a reality.

I'm not getting how this game picked up traction with normiws either. Morrowind is too archaic, Chivalry is too much of a pain but this is what sells?

I get the same vibe watching this game that I did watching God of War Ragnarok. I know I'm too old but I don't get at all why Veilgard crashed instead of this, I'm guessing because this game "looks" the part. I dunno.

your misunderstanding some fundamentals of marketing there friend.

New Game comes out. it is a New Game which trumps it's archaic design because normies don't actually care about what they consume they care not that morrowind oblivion or even skyrim are better they just want to consume new popular thing until they get to move on to next popular thing.

I would love to live in a universe where somehow mordheim:city of the damned came out this year and somehow got normies to try it their brains would melt at the levels of bugs and jank bullshit. or even something like the brigand games .

Like i get it to a degree I love instant gratification of picking up a game and understanding it i like to talk about something that is in the current mainstream and that most people can chime in on (marvel rivals for instance) but in general there is no actual appreciation for whatever game they clamber toward next

hell even most Vtubers manage to stick with and appreciate these games more then most of the randoms online not understanding what makes a game appealing and why its a good game unless it's force fed to them via someone else.

It pretty much fell in the shadow of a certain speedy blue hedgehog. The second game coming out in 1998 didn't help matters, as pointed out in the video.

Not sure if this completely falls under what you're looking for, but I subscribed to this guy a bit back because he seemed to fall under this. I haven't got around to watching many of his videos, so I can't comment on the overall quality of them, but they seem good. Most of his videos tend to be around 3 minutes long where he briefly describes a game and maybe some notable features. Also seems to do this with large updates to games. As his name suggests, he focuses more on single player games and mostly RPGs, survival, etc games. Doesn't seem like a bad place to look into to find some recommendations for those.

Although a bit of a warning: heavy Euro accent ahead. Looks like he's from Austria.

I generally let indie games speak for themselves as 90% of the time the thing is niche enough that if its going to appeal at all i can tell from the store page.

the other 10% are games that people will go on about for a few months like Balatro or even Stardew.
