Remember that the WoW team has basically been run by the old guard of Elitist Jerks for a decade and a half. The guild and their forums were already the embodiment of "shut up, we know better" and the forum's fall from relevance was near instant as soon as sites like Icy Veins and a wider group of theorycrafters emerged in the WotLK era. You can see all sorts of examples similar to the flying issues in their design from Wrath, going forward. An irritating example in Wrath was the way they added vehicles that were just one or two "fun" actions and a health bar, which sucked to begin with, and then they release a raid tier where the entire first area and boss fight are a mandatory vehicle section.

"But in raiding, it's about my skill with my class that I enjoy!" you say.

"Drive the Demolisher and learn to have fun, player," says the literal lawyer that runs the dev team (though to be fair, Ion wasn't lead at that time)
i mean warframe did the same thing with archwing necromech K Drive Atomicycles and railjack to an extent so I don't think the class skill override is terrible in a vacuum just implemented in the worse and most unfun way because blizzard had their head planted in a snowbank which also cost them HoTS.

It really is fun to pass the time to compare all the bullshit WoW does and how "less popular" MMO's do it better.

WoW maps are horrid bloated oversized with almost nothing to look at WoW Mounts/Vehicles suck ass WoW Story/Cinematics are up their own ass and told better in Heathstone oh and it essentially has nothing to do with original warcraft anymore Janna from WoW is nothing like Janna from 3 as an example.

im happy WoW exists just so everyone can see what failure looks like.

Oh right, a great bit to laugh at about with respect to the world artists in WoW: The final expansion zones, where you have to spend a ton of time at level cap, are always some form of blasted wasteland. Searing Gorge/Blasted Lands in Classic, Shadowmoon Valley/Netherstorm in BC, Icecrown in Wrath, the burnt to shit area of Hyjal in Cata, the stupid bug wasteland in Pandaria, and so forth. Did we spend time in neat looking areas? Yep, and we leveled right past it so we could get to the next version of lava/fel goo and rocks/ice. I certainly missed so much as I flew on by.

The Hordegger reduces property values wherever he goes, simply the state of things.
Except the blood elves, they create gated communities of homosexuals.

Orcs and Trolls start in Durotar, a red but natural blasted wasteland. Forsaken start in Tirisfal Glades, the decaying forest wasteland.

Don't forget they are crack addicts on top of being homosexuals. They truly are Hordeggers.

Icecrown was the only good final zone wasteland. It felt what a Mordor-esque endgame should be. The frozen wasteland where enemies are everywhere and the big bad sits on his throne. All the other blasted wastelands don't compare.

It's why Warframe still has an active community even after all DE's fuckups despite sometimes being slow to act or ignoring feedback they overall listen.

it's why Blizzard USED to be respected. Battlenet gave them valuable feedback on what warcraft 3 should have been and also contributed to diablo and their other games gave them a leg up until the internet became much more common.

not all player suggestions are good mind.
Warframe is actually one of the reasons I know about the mechanics of the feedback cycle. At one point, the friends network around the CRs basically controlled the information flow and it became a huge issue. Led to a whole revolt on reddit, global mods losing positions and bringing in a 3rd party moderator company because global chat had been taken over by a bunch of rampant petty tyrants.

Once that was cleaned up, the information sources and the feedback loops improved a lot. And the game just keeps chugging along.

worth noting that those petty tyrants were mostly of the degenerate troon variety.

more detail here I think he did like 329578230975 videos on it since he was one of the first people to start calling out DE.

Yeah, I know. That's the key problem with those types. They spend all of their energy worming into places and destroying them.

Durotar isn't a wasteland, it's just a harsh, arid canyon area. Some of the first quests you do there is to harvest apples from cacti. A lot of the Horde zones in Kalimdor are just low in vegetation, especially compared to Humans' lush Elwynn Forest and Night Elves' literal tree world. Even the Barrens, despite the name, is actually a huge savanna with sparse vegetation and oases. Stonetalon Mountains actually has tons of trees but a lot of the zone just looks like shit because of the Venture Company stripping that place of natural resources. The few actual wastelands on Kalimdor are Desolace (literal wasteland), Tanaris (desert), Felwood (cursed forest), Thousand Needles (barren canyon with a salt flat), and Silithus (desert even more uninhabitable than Tanaris).

Thrall's greatest idea for redemption for his yamanba race, settle in a shit zone. Also, Plaguelands are a wasteland by being fucking zombie plague forests.

That's why I specified Kalimdor. All the undead zones are turbo fucked. The first non-fucked zone they run into is Hillsbrad and that's shared with Humans.

And then the Forsaken fuck it anyway in Cata. Fuck the Forsaken.

Crytek lays off a sizable chunk and pauses development on Crysis 4 in favor of focusing entirely on Hunt Showdown

Not an unfamiliar situation for them unfortunately

So what like 6-7 months till the studio up and dies then? I don't see any situation where "were working on crisis4" is not bringing in a fresh influx of cash that they had to pivot back to Hunt:Showdown. Unless I'm misreading something.

The problem is that Gunt Hoedown had a huge player surge with their 2.0 update, before everyone realized just how hard they fucked the game and left, returning them to lower player numbers than before 2.0. A lot of veteran Gunters quit due to either truly awful gameplay changes (revive bolts, the fucking ripper from UT99, changes to certain perks) or the unrelenting fucking spam of time-limited events and microtranactions combined with nerfs to how much premium currency you can earn from playing.

i remember mousing it over after almost a year or two of not playing and seeing that the currently running event was "Post Malone's freak circus" or some shit and i decided to not bother

Wait, they had the ripper in that game? What?
They made a sawblade launcher that either had ricochet or explosive blades and it made the game unplayable for about a month.

Remnants of old Zack getting owned for Creepin'

I hope for Season 3 they add a new mini campaign though. We are almost a year on with this Destiny like and while the new game modes have been fun there is only so much you can do. Helldivers 2 finally got a new faction not long ago so maybe it's on the Helldivers schedule of development

Holy shit, sounds like they straight up did lift the Ripper. And that made the game unplayable? Boy modern developers are ass. Back then, the Ripper was just one of many crazy weapons, and was a tricky one that was in no way overpowered compared to the rest.
