Purely subjective, but while I totally believe that a lot of the phase girls themselves are Holo fans, the (more vocal) fanbase doesn't always act that way
I wouln't call them Antis because they aren't dedicated enough (passive-aggressive at best) but I have had multiple exchanges that basically went:

Not quite there yet, and I doubt it will grow as bad, but I feel a certain similarity between the phasefags of today and the Nijifans of 2021-2022. It's a different crowd, yet they somehow behave in a similar manner.

You have vocalized what I have had in my head for a long ass time but didn't say to not stir the pot too much, I definitely feel like Holo is gonna end up like TF2 at this point with other cooler, newer things coming around to "KILL IT ONCE AND FOR ALL" but completely failing while it outlasts everything until it slowly fades away into obscurity.

I don't dislike any other fandom in this industry apart from Nijisisters, I think it is foolish to take a group of thousands of people and mash it all into a collective that you can put labels on. But apart from Holo there is definitely no other corpo I see people bragging about not watching any more, I see these things as natural at the end of the day, the more fans you have the more haters you get, the bigger you are the more critical eyes are on you, one cannot bitch and moan over the natural progression of things.

There is also the fact that western audiences hate the norm, specially an audience composed of outcasts watching a niche new thing, western audiences tend to love the underdog, that which is relatable and humble, who in their right mind would support someone who has it all?

Just enjoy it while it lasts, every corpo, indie and group will some day fade away into the ether. A vindictive part of me wishes Holo would implode one day and destroy most of the industry which seems to loathe it so as it does, but that wouldn't change anything, someone else would take center stage and get labeled as the source of all problems all the same.

I'm a Phasefag, but the funny thing about this attitude is that Phase is also becoming a bit of a "walled garden" relative to the rest of small corpo VTubing. It's probably not an intentional company policy, and more just a function of how it's big enough to do its own thing, but aside from maybe Hime, I perceive Phase as interacting way less with the broader small corpo world in the past year compared to 2022, when I first tuned in.

Even the community is starting to become more insular. Anecdotally, I've encountered fans who are either Phase-only, or Phase + Holo only much more often, when before you would often see Phase fans who were more broadly in tune with the whole small corpo space (those guys are still around, but they're increasingly the minority).

I was never big into Holo, but you can respect Holo's contribution to the space without necessarily being part of the fanbase.

The big reason why Holo gets shit on is plain contrarianism, but I suspect part of it is also pushback on the fanbases. It's also because Phase has become significantly more active over the past year with events and they've added a lot more girls to collab with. It's gone from having fans that might watch like 1-3 of the girls to now having a lot more fans that watch 5+ different girls in the company. For example, a lot of Airi watchers have picked up Clara while a lot of Shiina watchers have picked up Jelly. Meanwhile I've noticed a lot of Lia and Rie fans have taken interest in Eimi.

There was a lot of memes about "Overlap Connect" when the new girls debuted. Despite some of them being geared for appealing to an untapped audience like Hina or Runie, a lot of the new girls have shared a lot of viewer overlap with the established girls. This means the newer Phase girls took away attention from the small corpo girls that fans would tune into watch after they were done watching their primary focus in Phase. In some cases, the overlapping schedules weren't so bad because their overlapping audience was actually with another girl in a different timeslot. Airi streams earlier than Clara, Shiina streams earlier than Jelly, and Eimi doesn't overlap schedules with Lia.

EDIT: It's also worth noting that Hololive's Advent really did a lot in recalling a huge chunk of the "former Holo fans". 2022 was a bad year for HoloEN but that was a good year for the indie/small corpo scene. Advent was a big success and it really took the wind out of the sails of the indie/small corpo scene.

I've wondered on whether or not this trend is entirely Phase-driven, notably with VSMP, where they've clearly tried to collect as many small corpo chuubas as possible, but the only Phase talent that got in officially was Hime(and Pippa who got in without any fuss or mention from the organizers), who then proceeded to only play on the server once, if i recall. Was it a Phase thing where multiple people got invited, but declined because they decided they had more important stuff to do, or was it VSMP who just didn't bother inviting any Phase girls?

Personal experience - i've quickly gravitated towards Phase upon discovering vtubing in early 24, and while i branch out occasionally, Phase has enough people i find entertaining to watch to occupy pretty much all the time i have for stream-watching.

Phase exists in this odd middle-ground where they're not a small corpo any more, but they're not big enough to catch the attention of Holos beyond minor twitter/stream chat interactions (outside of Ollie and Flayon who just unapologetically talk to everyone anyway), so just doing their own thing just feels natural.

The small corpo scene was also incredibly different a couple of years ago since it was much smaller and easier for everyone to stay connected. Even if particular talents had low sub counts and CCVs you'd still know who they were and what they were about, making it more likely those with similar interests would cross paths and set up collabs without much fuss. That doesn't really happen as often now, and I'm not surprised since the current environment where new corpos pop up every week and most of them are covered in red flags doesn't seem welcoming. Every now and then Pippa gets attached to a new small-corpo hire (she's been fairly chummy with her art-sister Chio in recent memory) but otherwise the current crop aren't really doing much that would catch Phase's attention.
