I would have almost recommended the first movie before Joker 2 was announced, which completely ruins the first movie and also helps justify why you shouldn't be supporting Hollywood, regardless of the content they're making. The first movie was really good at depicting a downtrodden man, who was trying his best and was treated with cruel indifference by society, and begins to turn against some of the people that were cruel to him. If it's taking inspiration from Taxi Driver, I think that's cool - Taxi Driver is a great movie and there's plenty of worse movies you could be inspired by. It's very possible that the studio played a bold card - since the first movie attracted the "wrong" audience the second installment was supposed to win brownie points with the usual leftist/whatchamacallit audience that supports woke slop, who in turn would then gloat on Twitter and in general how the movie "owned the chuds" and how it's somehow a win for them. This is turn would make the movie into a kind of obligatory watching for ideological purposes, which is a common tactic employed by the studios to push their terrible movies. This failed and everyone really does seem to hate the movie, even the critics (paid whores.) It's probably because the Joker in this is so pathetic and defeated by basically everyone and everything that there's no way to spin him into some kind of paragon of patriarchal white male oppression and other buzzwords. Everyone really does seem to see this as pure overwhelming violence directed against a thoroughly defeated person who has little to no recourse against the forces standing against him. In other words, the movie and the studios managed to go so far they undermined their theoretical goal, if the goal was to "own the chuds" and cater to the SJW audience. Everyone was disgusted, nobody was pleased.
